Hi there I’m a first time mum I’m newly pregnant I hope no one judges me for this cause I genuinely can’t help it I don’t know exactly what’s happened a few weeks ago I thought it was thrush cause many women get this while pregnant but i have a fishy kinda smell down there (it dosent burn when i pee) my partner pointed it out to me, I feel so insecure with it and I’m worried it’s gonna result in miscarriage I think it could be bv but I’m not sure, I’ll be calling the docs tomorrow but I’m looking for some advice on what I could do to make it smell a bit better

I know exactly how you feel! What worked for me was Apple cider vinegar. Get a spray bottle fill it up with water and add about half a cup of ACV and spray your vagina once your out the shower, smell is gone instantly and usually heals up the infection within a day or 2. I would recommend putting on some cotton panties and spraying the panties as well before putting on, however don’t spray too much.

When you become pregnant your hormones change your ph level downstairs so many things can easily effect it and change it causing utis or thrush or bv that’s why your told not to use bath bombs or bubble bath I know the smell may be worrying and that but I wouldn’t do anything until you see your gp other than loose fitting clothes and cotton pants to let it breath you can make it worse if you don’t know the cause as different things require different treatments

I would highly recommend against home remedies until you have spoken with a doctor and got a swab to test so then you know exactly what it is. Your hormones fluctuate during pregnancy so your smell and ph will change, if it’s fishy it’s likely BV and you will need antibiotics. Personally when I have antibiotics, I end up having thrush following so be prepared for that possibility! Once whatever it is cleared up take a probiotic this will boost your bodies lactobacilli which helps with preventing BV, thrush and UTIs.
