How did you get through your spouse being on deployment while having an infant (4 months old) My husband is gonna be gone until Dec 2024 and my heart feels heavy. I already feel bored so any specifics on what you did to make time pass. Thanks 🥹🥹
Edit: we’re both from the same unit but I’m staying back with the baby ofc! So I get how things work in the military which I think helps :)

My husband is deploying at the end of the month and we’ll have a 4 month old as well. He’s also returning Dec 2024. We have 2 older kids as well. I’ll be so busy and hoping that makes the time go quickly but I’m really dreading it. First time since we’ve been married that he’s deployed.

Just here to show support because my hubby left for deployment as well. He will also be gone til Dec 2024!

My husband was deployed for the first 8 months of our daughters life! It’s tough, no doubt. What helped us most was video chat when possible, lots of pictures and videos as well. In regards to taking care of an infant alone i struggled a lot with emotional exhaustion as there’s no one else around to relive that. Reaching out for help is crucial! I was lucky enough to have my mom come out every month for about a week to help out. I’d prioritize your health and baby’s health first and foremost!! Listen to your energy levels and honor them 🤍

Also creating your own little schedule really helps. Once i was comfortable i tried to do an outing once a day with my little one whether it was walking around target or barnes and noble, going for a walk, etc. Little things like that helped so much. And who doesn’t love window shopping?? ..or retail therapy🤪

My husband was deployed from the time my daughter was 5m-11m old. I mostly stayed busy with her by going thrift shopping. Daily walks helped too, just bundled up a lot because of the snow. Other than that we just FaceTimed family and relaxed at the house. But yeah in terms of “staying busy” doing daily walks and random days of window shopping/thrift shopping helps. You could also go for story time at your public library. Its actually so much fun!
thank you so much for your input! Yeah I’m definitely trying but I’m also wanting to use his time on deployment to get myself right and get really fit again. I guess I feel like I want to just be able do it all. My child 4 mo old is really hard to keep up with because he’s so aware of his surroundings and gets bored so so easily 😅😅
I’m definitely gonna have to take you up on that!! Thank you so much. I just have a hard time keeping my child entertained and myself I genuinely love connection and when I have a family member over or a friend and because I’m a SAHM I get so so bored here and everyone else is at work during the week which sucks for me and I end up having such a hard time because I get depressed :(

Hi! My husband left to OCS when our son was 2 months old. Definitely hard but if you have a good relationship with family stay close. Go out for little walks, treat yourself. I’m a message away if you need to talk. My husband is deployed right now and my kids are 3 yrs and 11 months.
