Low PAPP-A

I just got my results back from my 12 week scan for downs, Edwards patau syndrome- all came back as lower chance risk which is good! However I had a letter with it to say I have a lower level of the PAPP-A hormone and will need regular growth scans. Has anyone else had this- I immediately freaked out!!

I had this with my last pregnancy.
Apparently it’s a new thing they test for (so lots of people years and years ago could’ve had it and not known) when I first got my letter I think I cried because I had no idea what it was and when I googled it sounded scary

When I spoke to my midwife it didn’t sound worrying

For me it never affected my pregnancy, it just meant I had extra growth scans which I was happy for because I got to see my little boy every few weeks

My friend also had it and the exact same for her x

This was me today when I opened the letter. Everything goes through your mind.😭 thank you for the reassurance. I think just knowing others have had it / gone through it and everything is fine helps.

Yes I've been told I've got slightly low papp a. It seems relatively common. Just more scans and I'm been prescribed daily aspirin

I had it in my last pregnancy and my first reaction was just like yours and there was nothing helpful on the internet back then as it was so new. I think the most important thing to remember is that the low pappA result is like a flag for a risk factor, it doesn’t mean that something is or will go wrong. You will have extra scans to monitor growth and if anything changes they can act accordingly. I was also on aspirin to reduce the associated risk of preeclampsia, which I didn’t get. My baby was average sized and born late so I don’t think it effected me x

Thank you so much ladies for your reassurance- everything I’ve been reading seems to be on the same path - that all was okay & just extra scans. to take as a positive to see baby more often & someone monitoring every few weeks.

the worry has started - I thought I’d done fairly well in the first trimester to keep chilled 😂🫣

I’ve got it too lovely! I massively freaked out when I received the letter, rang the fetal medicine ward straightaway and they were very reassuring. I’ve got an appointment after my 20 week scan which apparently I see a doctor who goes through it all that’s what the midwife told me at 16 weeks xxx

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
