My baby is 6.5 months and I am feeling like my supply isn’t enough. He is still a good size and is peeing and pooping, but his weight percentile has dropped a fair amount and I am struggling to get him full before bed. I burned through the freezer stash that I had and am now considering supplementing with formula. Probably a bottle or two a day. I already pump and bottle feed a fair amount so I’m not concerned about him refusing a bottle.
Questions:
1) is it okay to supplement like this? Should breastfeed him and then top off with formula, or have the whole meal be either formula or milk?
2) ANY FORMULA RECOMMENDATIONS?
He does have an unknown allergy. I started solids about a month ago and he started getting hives (I couldn’t identify a trigger, it wasn’t immediate after he ate one thing). It got to a point that his body had so many histamines in it that he was reacting to everything he ate. I have stopped solids for a couple of weeks and will try again in a couple of more, to give his body a break. I’m really hoping that he won’t react to formula in light of this.
Basically just looking for words of wisdom from moms who have supplemented with formula. Thank you!!

Just continue to breastfeed and feed him rice. Rice will fill him up. Your milk will change its density as you baby grow it will make him exactly what he needs.
Rice blended with some chicken broth it what I gave my boys before bed to keep them full.
You don’t want to shock his system giving him to much variety starting out. I like the food pouches with high protein and grains. With at least 3 different foods in it.
Earthbounds sensitive stomach I think it’s a purple container can be found at Walmart is pretty good.
I don’t really like to used canned baby foods I just feed my son off my plate whatever I am eating. I never purée foods for them. Both now 11 months and 2 years old they are great eaters not picky .
