My baby is exclusively breastfed and has had green poop for over two weeks, she seems well in herself other than this. Anyone EB having this too?

Had this early days- not sure if it was due to too much foremilk but I made sure to fully drain each breast before offering the other (at first I was told to keep switching my baby because she was falling asleep at breast). Can also be caused by green foods in your diet, if the baby is congested or allergies. Hope you get it sorted oxox

I had this, it’s due to lactose from foremilk. Nothing to worry about I contacted the health visitor as I was concerned. As long as there’s no blood or mucus in their poo then it’s all good.

I would contact your health visitor for advice. I believe it’s because your baby is only drinking the for milk and not completely draining the breast but I wouldn’t want to assume that if there is something that needs investigated.

Do not worry about the green poo unless they have any other issues with it - my ebf baby had green poo for like 3.5 weeks from around 6-7 weeks? I went to the doctor, started tracking what I ate, started block feeding due to this foremilk/ hindmilk thing but the breastfeeding consultant said this idea is outdated and whilst sometimes they can get a lactose overload from feeding a lot not to worry, one day she woke up and her poos were yellow again, still get the odd green one here and there

Had the same experience, it was because she was taking only foremilk during the feeds. We think it was due to a bad patch which was odd as until week 8 she’d been fine. For us it coincided with slow weight gain and so after speaking to a lactation consultant I’m doing breast compressions during each feed and as soon as she looks sleepy on one breast, I’ve been told to switch to the other. She’s now pooping normally again and is gaining weight very quickly!
