I recommend AGAINST nexplanon š

From my own experience it was to many hormones. I gained 50 pounds in 6 months. And I just felt crazy. Also found an ovarian cyst and canāt prove itās from nexplanon but I personally think it has something to do with it.
I never did the depo shot. And went with the nuvaring instead

I was wanting to get and IUD but my insurance doesn't cover the 2 year one only the 8 year. They gave me a depo shot to see how the nexplanon would feel, and so far I've only been cramping and eating more than usual. Although breastfeeding has increased my appetite.

Well that seems crazy they wonāt cover the 2 year one! Sorry girly!
I just know the nexplanon is one of the higher hormones since itās not central based. It was great for me to not have a period on nexplanon

Iāve had both and they both seemed fine. The depo shot takes a long time to fully wear off, so Iād keep that in mind if youāre trying to get pregnant in the future. If I had to pick one of those right now Iād pick Nexplanon, but it isnāt a strong preference

it's ok and thank you

I'm used to taking forever to get pregnant. Since I had been on birth control for 12 years. it only took about 6 months for me to get pregnant after I got off the pill. So I don't know if it will be the same.

fair enough! I think average time to be able to get pregnant after depo is 8-10 months; it took about 9 months for my period to come back after my last shot and a year to get pregnant. But I was also on birth control for 18 years before trying to conceive which may have contributed

Both are pretty much toxic lol

it took me a year to get pregnant after the depo personally and the detox off of it SUCKED. it made me feel insane

true birth control increased my depression which is why I stopped taking the pill. We don't plan on having any more babies in at least a couple of years which is why I'm having a hard time picking between those 2.

Nexplanon really affected my periods. Iāve had 3 nexplanon implants over the years and upon insertion basically bled non-stop for 6 months. After this, my monthly periods would be irregular and last around 10 days minimum. It did not agree with me - I only realised how badly it affected me once I stopped having them and got regular periods back š¤¦š¼āāļø

The have the same stuff in them. Get the shot and see how it reacts to your body, if you want to keep going with it then get the bar.
Personally I had a shit experience with both and bleed for 2 years straight.

Iāve only used depo and the only positive was that I never got a period. I was on and off it for about 8 years and would only spot close to when the next shot was due. It will definitely increase your appetite and you will gain weight ! Side effects were horrible, depression was a killer. Once I officially got off of it, it took me 1 year and 1 month to get pregnant, although I wasnāt trying lol. It does take a while to get out your system. It made me think I was infertile.

I got the nuva ring ! It was better

I have only ever done the next put on and itās done fairly good for me. I donāt have any side effects. Other than the first time I got it. I had my period for 2 1/2 weeks and then switched to getting it only every few months and when I did get it was only three days I got it again after my last kid and I didnāt have my period for two weeks. Iāve just been getting it every month for two days.

I saw that your insurance only does the 8 year IUD but that doesnāt mean youāre locked in for all 8 years. You can have it removed at any time.

I use nexplanon - this is my 4th since I was 14 - I got off of it April 2021 & got pregnant in July - Side effects I have experienced - long periods or no periods at all - currently haven't had a period in a month and a half (totally fine with it) cramps are minimal- mood swings are more present. I just couldn't keep up with the pill and I do not wanna be pregnant anytime soon so nexplanon has been my go to. depo isnt great to more than 2 year usage & the side effects from prolonged usage are pretty bad & someone I know gained a lot of weight when taking the depo shot.
