Promethazine for nausea

It’s very drowsy indeed
But was it safe for your baby thou?

I was taking Zofran from week 5 until I delivered my baby cause I had very bad hypermesis; I was in bed for the first 5 months and super sick. You got this; have they diagnosed you with HG? All other medications that I had tried made me drowsy and sleepy all day. Zofran was better than other and worked for me, but it causes constipation and less drowsiness.

Hey! I’m currently taking it now! I tried a few others that haven’t worked but this seems to work well. I take 2 before bed as it makes u very drowsy so I just sleep through it, and then it lasts all of the next day! Xx

I asked my GP about this one but won’t give me it in first trimester, xonvea im on helps but still getting ‘motion sickness’ when moving so stuck in bed all day. Roll on the next 2weeks 😢

My drs has just prescribed me this I hope it works x

Do you know why they wouldn’t prescribe it for you in your first trimester?

They said I’ve tried all the medication they would prescribe in the first trimester and to ‘ ride it out’ for a few weeks and if it’s still bad to come back . Honesty, I wasn’t sure about her opinion and was going to ask my midwife for a second opinion as I hear others are being prescribed it.

yes and there are several other options if it doesnt work for you x

Oh I’m relieved to hear as I haven’t been prescribed it I took it a few weeks when I couldn’t sleep but then found that it stopped my vomiting altogether. I’ve been prescribed cyclizine but it doesn’t do much. I am 10 weeks and take it on and off the past 2 weeks x
