Baby hands smell ?

My little one gets SO much fluff stuck in her hands, and I am forever trying to pick it out, but I’ve noticed it smells quite ‘cheesey’ and sweaty? I bathe her every 2 days and I always try to make sure her hands are clean but she clenches them so tight it’s impossible at times. I feel like a terrible mum having a baby with smelly hands! Is this just me or does anyone else get this too?

I could have written this myself! My little boy also clenches his fist unbelievably tight so I now use cotton buds to clean the fluff out everyday and of course then wash them but I can’t say it particularly takes the smell away but I don’t want to use fragranced soap so young x

Same! I used baby shampoo yesterday for the first time just because of this, water wasn't cutting it, it's like it needed something stronger to remove weeks worth of saliva and sweat residue

I found that the smell was because my LB was sucking his hands at night. He's also started it doing it during the day now too

I have the same issue, it is as said, because they’re sucking their hands and they get wet and sweaty and start to smell. Your little one might be entering early teething. I have my little one’s mits on very often too as she scratches her face a lot. I just try to clean with warm water and cotton buds daily between fingers to get the fluff out and cotton wool/water wipes for rest of hands, then I use Johnson’s top to toe wash with a sponge when bathing twice a week.

Oh yes the cheesy hand smell 😂. On the days he doesn't have a bath, I just wipe his hands down with gentle soap and warm water on a cotton wool pad.

Yes, hands stink! I find it quite satisfying picking all the fluff out. I'm giving her more hands free time now too, especially as she now likes to aggressively suck on her hand as a self soothe method

I’ve used baby shampoo too and even that doesn’t seem to help! Can’t wait til the smell goes away 🥺🥺

my little one does this too! She has reflux too so she always has little spit ups that smell of sick so think this is making her hands worse too

Yep, can confirm, it doesn't help 😂 I was so happy her hands smelled nice for a bit, but yeah would need to wash a few times a day to really keep them clean

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

At this point I’m not enjoying motherhood

My 22 month old is horrendous at the moment🫣 biting, hitting, pushing, pulling and shoving not only adults but children he also wants what other children have and will just snatch it away from them.

We repeat ‘nice hands’ ‘be gentle’ ‘let’s share’ etc

But how do I make him understand what he’s doing isn’t very nice? At the end of the day I feel like I’ve just been saying his name all day and nothing else.

What can I do?

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.

Is this normal?

My 12m old is really funny with kids going near him, he’s always been this way, but anytime family’s kids sit next to him or head his way he moans or cries and moves away. He also really observes them and is never really relaxed, always looking over his shoulder. Has anyone experienced this? (He’s starting nursery properly tomorrow so hoping this helps) but is this normal?

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.
