I’m really unwell and have a fever and body aches so drew myself a bath with Himalayan salt to relax as it always helped with re pregnancy
However my mum has now told me it’s not good and not to stay there long ?

I’ve never heard of it not being permitted?

Hot baths are not recommended during pregnancy, it can push the blood pressure up

She probably means hot baths in pregnancy not Islam🩷

I think its about not staying in the bathroom for longer than necessary, because they say that it's where jinns and shaitan is.
And if you're taking a bath during pregnancy, it's better not to have the temperature too hot. The heat can cause dehydration and fainting.

The water temperature for a bath or shower should be no more than your core body temperature- 37 degrees when pregnant

So a lot of people say and believe that the bathroom is the place of the devil. So it’s not recommend to spend extended amounts of time in there. That’s the only reason I can think of. But sister if you’re pregnant, hot baths aren’t recommended.

As a sister mentioned above it is advised not to spend too long in the bathroom due to it being napaak (unclean) and where bad entities are known to linger.
You can have a soak, nothing unislamic in that hunni.
Im also expecting and use the shower to put hot water on the areas that are a little sore so the water can massage the areas.
Take care of those aches mama x

I didn't know that baths were not allowed, is this a cultural or religious belief? And does anyone have any sources? How is it any different to being in the shower or on toilet for a long time?

Its not haram
They say it is better to not spend excessive time in the bathroom.
If your body aches and you need a soak fair play but like dont sit on the loo with your phone and just sit there or dilly dally in the shower.
