Hi all,
Sorry its a long one
I live on the border between England and Wales. My GP is in England so my care is in England.
So far I have found the care from the midwives, EPAS and GATU to be awful. They are lovely to your face but don't actually provide care or real information.
Unfortunately I have been quiet poorly after IVF treatment, with ovarian hyperstimulation (20kg of fluid trapped, heart nearly stopping, not able to breath and ovaries the size of large plums) its taken
over 6 weeks for the majorty of symptoms to go but I am still left with ovaries the size of plums, so big they don't fit on the ultrasound scan screen.
I was told any problems ring GATU so I did, 9 hours I spent with them yesterday to be told I would be admitted to the gynaecology ward because I also have cysts and on my ovaries that are twisitng causing a huge deal of pain. I was also told by the consultant for GATU that I would be getting a scan today (24/1) and being given painkillers.
Fast forward to 9pm last night, one of the doctors, came to tell me that my bloods were all okay but I have cysts on my ovaries, they are small she cant see much (I didn't have a scan yesterday. Told her that 3 times. On the 4th time of telling her she listened) she then said oh, well you can go home anyway. A good amount of time later the nurse comes to me and gives me some paper, and tells me to get the script tomorrow. As she's walking away I had to check I was being discharged. I left the ward and as I was leaving the hospital I noticed that the doctor has prescribed me DICLOFENAC!!!
I went back and explained to the nurse I can't take diclofenac, it gives me an upset stomach and makes me sick. The nurse processed to tell me off, and tell me I should of told them I was allergic. I'm not allergic it's a mild, adverse reaction. But that's not the point. I asked for something different to which I was told the doctor had gone home and she didn't know when the next doctor would be available. I could wait or go home. I chose to leave.
Today I waited by the phone until midday, because the consultant GATU told me someone would call me with my scan time. It got to midday and I rang EPAU to ask if my scan would be today. I was told they didn't have me on their records for a scan. I explained everything that happened and the midwife on the phone near enough screamed when I told her about the diclofenac. She said well done for refusing it. You should NEVER of been prescribed it as it can cause a miscarriage in pregnancy women!!
She also told me someone from GATU would call me to let me know what was going on regarding scans. It's really 6pm and I've had nothing back.
My question is, do you think this is good grounds to ask for a transfer of hospital and care? I don't feel safe being under this hospital anymore and I'm nearly 2 months on from the initial ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and still not been given anything to help. I'm in agony and just want someone to help!

you are more then welcome to change doctors anytime, i moved from scotland to england back home and changed that, just be prepared to get bloods taken again and go through your booking appointment again

Do you mean GP? As I'm not sure I could get another GP.
How do you request another doctor? Do you call the hospital. I'm not moving I just live on the border so wondered if I could go across it x

do your research on doctors, for me i just went back to my local one and they had no questions on why i moved or what happened, you can call the community midwife for that area and they can help you through all of that. when you’ve chosen a gp call a receptionist and ask

I don't want to change GPs as my actual GP is amazing and not the one I've got issues with. My issue is with the hospital and community midwives that I have. They haven't done anything to help and when I call always fob me off.

@Rosie as far as I'm aware, as long as it isn't too far from your home. So that if you need to get there in a hurry. You can go to which ever hospital/pregnancy care unit you wish.
You will need to either be referred there by your gp or current midwife, but personally... if you've got the time to do so, I would go to the hospital/pregnancy care unit you want to attend and ask them in person how to go about it.
I'm in Hastings and will be attending my local hospital in Hastings, East Sussex. However, I could transfer to eastbourne or Brighton if I really wanted to.
You need to do what is best for you and your baby, apart from that one nurse on the phone. None of them seem to care at all, find someplace else. Asap.
Going to risk sounding stupid, so, I'm sorry in advance lol.
But if you are able to use the non emergency services 111, do that and get their advice. They're usually extremely helpful. Tell them EVERYTHING. do not miss out any details.
Best of luck hun, hope you feel better soon x

@Pia Thank you lovely. I honestly can't believe how bad the past 24 hours has been let alone the rest of it 🙈
I live in Shropshire, the hospital in question is 45 minutes to an hour at the best of times. Thats my closest and designated hospital.
The one I am thinking about is 20 minutes but it's in Wales so I'm not sure if they will take me.
I will try calling them tomorrow and seeing what they say. I'm so fed up and feel like I'm just being passed around and no one is actually helping xx

@Rosie given that the one in Wales in closer to you, I can't see why they'd turn you away... it would make sense to have you go to one that is 20 minutes away so that in an emergency, it's not going to be a crazy long time to get there...
I'd imagine you'd be fine.
But definitely call them and ask.
It's ridiculous that you're being treated so poorly 😞 I'm sorry to hear that hun
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

Contact PALS and make a complaint, they will assist you https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/hospitals/what-is-pals-patient-advice-and-liaison-service/ x
