I’m 2 days post c-section and I’m wondering what people think in terms of belly binders. The hospital is giving me a basic one that’s just an elastic band with Velcro but its way too big for me. Apparently they only have sizes small and 2XL. They said I could trim it down to fit be better which I may do. My questions are: 1.) is there an advantage to having those more fancy support bands that have multiple straps and such over the basic wrap? Is it worth ordering one? 2.) how long did you wear the support band for and do you feel like it ultimately helped? I haven’t really used the one here yet since it doesn’t fit. 3.) how often did you wear it? All day? Just when mobile?

I never got given one or advised to use one x

The hospital sent me home in one with a backup to change to when I wanted, if I wanted. I did when I was sure my incision wasn't still seeping. It healed beautifully, I just wish I started the scar massage sooner. Anywho, I feel like it helped with stability overall because bae had to work and I refused my mom's help (PPD but she was across the hall so I still got it 🙏🏽) so I was on my lonely, peeing with him in my arms and such, it helped. My doc said I could take it off at my 6 week cause I was still wearing it out for support and while I slept cause I was cosleeping. (Also my partner is MORBID and insisted he'd wake up with a hand inside my gut, didn't sleep with us for 2-3 months.)

I used the one from the hospital for weeks and only took it off to shower. Definitely felt like it helped with support because i felt hoe different it was in the shower without it.
