I’m 30. I REALLY, really want to go back to school. But… I don’t know what I want to do. I mean, I do. But how do I go about it? I don’t want any more OSAP loans. I don’t know how else to do or where to go.
I want to be a counsellor. Addictions/mental health. Or otherwise.
Anyone have any insight??

Look for grants. Second career, any others the school might provide. Its never too late to start something fresh or expand your education. You might qualify for a personal loan from the bank although I'm not sure if that would be better than OSAP..
You could also look into night school or parttime classes which would take longer to complete but reduce the financial burden.

Take social working, my mom went back to school at 49 but had osap loan it is delivered online at Seneca college (king) I believe or might have the option to go in class if need be and Georgian college ( Barrie) is either in class or online

Take courses part time. The most common course people do for counselling is social work. You will need a masters degree to practice as a clinical counsellor.
Another route you could take that is less time but also less in depth for practice is doing life coaching.

I’m 36 and currently in law school. I got grants and government assistance plus extra for having a mental disability (ADHD). About 60% of my school is covered by grants and the rest is StudentAid. You can do it if you put your heart into it!
My baby was born Nov 25th and I wrote all my midterms by January. Currently sitting at a solid B+ average!
I picked the best school for my needs and spoke to the admissions team before even applying. I wanted to make sure the environment would be a good fit before going ahead and writing the LSAT and all that jazz. It was so worth it.

Unless you make lots of money Look into osap again just to see, you may be eligible for more grant money (that you don’t have to pay back) than you were before. I know the program has been significantly improved since I was a student. You can also apply for bursaries and scholarships. There are probably some specifically for students in your chosen field and specifically for mothers or adults upgrading skills etc etc.
you should also reach out to the admissions department asap to see what requirements they will expect in your case and if they can give you any advice. And once you get in contact the faculty department to see if there are any classes you can skip or challenge based on any previous experience you may have to get through faster and for less
