Private rooms at hospital?

Has anyone ever booked a private postnatal room at the hospital instead of staying on the ward? Lister hospital mentioned they have them and it’s possible to reserve one for a price but I can’t seem to find information on how much it costs or how to book one 🤔. Tried calling a few times this week and got no answer so figured I’d post to see if anyone has managed to get one in the past.

I believe that you can’t usually pre-book, but if when you’re in they have a side room available then they can allow a private booking. They often use them if someone has Covid and needs to be kept separate, or if the ward is full. I don’t know how much they are though, would be interesting to know wouldn’t it! 😅 xx

yes I’m surprised there’s not more info available online! I managed to find pricing for Bedford hospital’s rooms which are £139 a night, so I assume Lister is similar, but couldn’t find any info on how to make it known you’d like one. I realllyyyyy just want the private bathroom and for my husband to be allowed to use the bathroom as well as I’m reading they’re not allowed to shower or sleep on the ward, which I suppose makes sense, but is something that’s just now dawning on me. Trying to decide if that’s worth the money to me, but if it’s only 1 or 2 nights I’m leaning towards yes 😅

My hospital offers private rooms if available on the day at a cost too. My midwife didn’t say how much but said I can’t pre book and can only sort it out on the day due to availability.

I had a private room with my first (no cost), luckily as I was in for 4 days and it was a dream - my partner got to stay with me the whole time. My second I was on a ward and did not enjoy it one bit. I’m definitely going to ask the question with this one and weigh up the cost pros and cons - if it’s not extortionate then I’ll be considering for sure!

I was in a private room after having my wee boy, no charge. I guess it’s different everywhere but I’m a bit surprised you would have to pay!

So in Leeds, if you need a private room (for whatever medical reason) you’ll be prioritised free of charge, if not and if there is one available they charge you £75ish (it’s different per trust/hospital though). My midwife and I have requested one due to my ADHD and other mental health reasons, and needing a quiet space to recover after birth but I’m very conscious I may end up on a ward if someone with covid etc turns up and needs isolating. As far as I know there’s no way to pre-book, otherwise those with specific medical needs wouldn’t be able to access the space.

I had a private room for 5 days after my last section as I was poorly (because I was being sick so they couldn’t risk the spread)

It wasn’t contagious, I was poorly with a reaction to meds. But they have to do it. It was so nice to have space and a bathroom too to myself. Would of cost £80 a night to book xx

Just found the price for Addenbrookes, Cambridge (just up the road from Lister) and that’s £150 a night. So they seem to vary from trust to trust! Xx

Small head reported following 20 week scan

Has anyone else had it flagged that their baby is in the bottom 5th percentile for head size?

They said everything was fine whilst we were in the scan and then I got a phone call the next day saying that it’s on the small side and we’re being referred to a paediatric specialist at St George’s. Has anyone else had this and how did things go??

Would you bring 9 week old to a family party of 35+ people?

These are also people who will want to pass the baby around and get a turn to hold him. He just got his 2 month shots two days ago

Exercise 6 weeks after c section

What movement did people start to introduce? I won’t do anything too vigorous until I’ve seen the pelvic physio as I don’t want to compromise anything that may have been extremely weakened through pregnancy! But just wondering what types of classes/movement people started off with?

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲
