Axkid move car seat fitting

Hi All, i recently fitted the Axkid move for my 17 month old (she is on the 91st percentile height wise) but she doesn't look comfortable (she looks like shes wedged into the seat) and when she falls asleep, her head rolls forward.
Also the horizontal strap going across her chest doesnt look right (Its right underneath her chin). Im not sure why its so high up. I have undone it in some if the pics but you can see that in 3 of the pics, its done up.
Can someone please tell me what needs to be done to ensure that she is sitting safely and comfortably?
(More photos in the comments)

Thank you x

Are you sure she is supposed to be rear facing?

Avatar

yes, axkid go all the way to 4 years old and it is advised to rear face for as long as possible, even up to 7 years of age as their spines are not well developed and their heads are proportionately heavier than the rest of the body. During a crash, with forward facing, their heads move forward which can cause spine injuries.

Avatar

who did you get the baby seat from. I suggest asking in the extended rear facing Facebook group. Unless you buy from one of the admins of the car seat safety UK, they won't do fit check for you unfortunately. But maybe you can join still and have a nosy as how they advised other people.

Avatar

It doesn’t look fitted properly. Why is the base so far away from the back seat?

Is the seat in the recline position?

Avatar

axkid have extended rear facing as it lasts up to 7 years old so you can have the seat further out to give more leg room when they grow. I have mine in the same position, as long as it doesn’t go past the yellow line on the base it’s completely fine

Avatar

Yep defo rear facing 🙂 i joined the Facebook group and posted the same question and pics but they declined the post and said to contact the retailer. My partner ordered it online so im just finding out from him what site he used x

Avatar

There should be an installation and fitting guide on the axkid website including a video tutorial but that's definitely not a safe fit.

Avatar

Thank you. I've been looking online to see if i can take it to a specialist so that they can correct the fitting for me/ reinstall it.. but i cant find much online. I dont mind paying. I may just start again from the beginning. Ps- we got it online from Baby & Co. X

https://axkid.com/uk/product/axkid-move/ these an install video here. It doesn't show anything about a strap that goes across the chest?

Avatar

@Alana aww thanks so much. I will have a look... and hopefully get it right this time. Xx

Avatar

@Wyanita no problem. Its such a stress getting them safely in but it doesn't take long to get used to x

Avatar

@Wyanita hopefully your retailer gets back to you about a safe fit for your child, if not, I think you can contact axkid for help 😊

Avatar

@Alana lol its making me anxious. I just want to get it right so that shes as safe as possible. Im going to email the retailer and Axkid now.. and probably give them a call tomorrow aswell x

Avatar

yeh. They are a bit strange about that. But like i said you might be able to learn something from others posting about their axkids on there for fit check xx

Avatar

@Wyanita https://youtu.be/wnghGI8eaqs?si=-xbzP3Z_I8TzE71n not sure if this will help.

Looking at your pics I *think* you may need to nove the shoulder pads up the straps a bit.
Make sure the straps are coming from in line or just below the shoulders , not above. I can't really tell because of the scarf. That will need removing so that you can get the straps as close in to the neck as possible. Did the chest strap come with the seat, or have you added that? X

Avatar

@Alana thank you you've been so helpful 🤗. I will take a look at the video. I was thinking that i shouldve removed the scarf before taking the pic 🫣
The seat came with the chest strap.. but the funny thing is..when i watched a YouTube video on setting up the Azkid move (whilst setting it up), they didnt mention the chest strap which i thought was a bit strange

Avatar

Yeah. I've had a look and there doesn't seem to be a chest strap with the move 🤔 best of luck with it all xx

I don’t know anywhere in the london area that could help but there’s a place in derby called Cariad Babi that have a specialist car seat fitter and one of their brands is axkid . I know it’s not local to you but they may be able to help online or point you in the direction of someone local to you

@Ceri-Ann thank you x

The straps look totally wrong around her. It’s all bunched up. That buckle strap thing shouldn’t be there at all. Have you got a picture of her as soon as she goes in? She looks really slouched. Or a picture of it empty as something is definitely wrong. You may need to contact axkid directly. There is also a car seat group on peanut, which some of the mums have this seat and could hopefully help you more x

Avatar

Uk car seats don’t have chest straps ever so that needs removing

Avatar

Just wanted to say if you message axkid on Facebook, you will get a reply. And from what I understand they have really good customer service. Also there is a place called in car safety centre in Milton Keynes that could possibly help you out as they stock this seat.

Avatar

Thanks all. You guys have been really helpful. I wonder if what i thought was the ' Chest strap' is a strap that should be done up at the back of the seat. 🤔 i will be contacting azkid directly, theough Facebook and also the online retailer that i bought it from and if i dont have any luck..i will probably end up making the trip to Milton Keynes.. thanks all!!

It’s almost impossible to tell from these photos, you need to take a photo of the fit from before little one falls asleep, when they’re first fitted into the seat. But yes, there definitely shouldn’t be a strap across the chest. Make sure little one’s bum is right at the back of the seat when you sit them in, back straight, and fit like that. Bum to buckle in infant carriers only, bum to back of seat in next stage seats, they look super slouched and uncomfortable here. (We have the minikid2 which is very similar to the move)

Avatar

Also make sure you are putting little one in the seat so their bum is right to the back of the seat and straight rather than slouched when you tighten should help.

Avatar

@Wyanita, I am glad you got a response! X

Avatar

if you reinstall and then follow those steps advised and want to post a fit check again we would all happily help again. Hopefully you can get it sorted for your little one to be comfy and safe ❤️

Thank you xxx

Great ! Fast reposne from axkid too

Avatar

Also i added the wedge this time x

Avatar

The fit looks a lot better and I was going to say make sure you’ve got the wedge in as the buckle looked too high on her abdomen in the first pictures but I see you’ve already done that. Just make sure you wiggle the chest straps right up to her neck before you tighten them because the straps in your second pictures wouldn’t keep her in in the event of a crash (you can see they are slipping off of her shoulders). Basically you should feel confident that if you were to tip the seat upside down with you lo in it that they wouldn’t fall out. She definitely looks beater in the second pictures though.

Avatar

@Antonia thank you. I will definitely put the straps up higher towards her neck and tighten them as much as possible 🙂. Xx

Avatar

It does look loads better. Bear in kind the recline angle should be somewhere between 40-50°

When you Bob her in, make sure her bum is right to the back of the seat and get her to sit back. Fasten the buckle and then hold the straps together as close to the neck as possible. As you tighten the straps you can let go and they should fall into a good position on the shoulders. As they are now they wouldn't restrain her in a crash. It's much better than it was before 😊

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.
