My 2 month old wakes up (while being held) and seems legitimately terrified. Like she had a nightmare just wakes up screaming and crying. Not her normal cry. She’s either scared or in pain. I will rock her and be like “it’s ok. I’m right here” and she is really hard to calm down.
I swear it seems like she’s had a nightmare but everything I’ve read says she’s too young for that.
Anyone else have this happen?
I’m thinking it may be gas or reflux? But I really have no idea.

It could be gas or also just her startle reflex

My 2 month old was in her rocking swing and she feel asleep she was literally whimpering and then woke up full screaming and crying. I know it wasn’t a hunger cry either cause she had just eaten so I was so scared. I picked her up and soothe her. Hubby and I are assuming it’s nightmares. I honestly don’t care what people say like there’s no way she’s not having a nightmare with how scared she gets

I’ve seen her startle reflex like when she’s sleeping in her crib and it never seemed to wake her up like that but idk.

This happens to me all the time. It's only naps too. I was planning on bringing it up to my pediatrician on Tuesday.

if you don’t mind, would you come back here and let me know what they think it might be? It didn’t happen until right after she had her doctors appointment last week so I couldn’t ask about it 😑

This happens with my two month old too! Not often but in the middle of the night or when I’m holding him he will scream like he has a nightmare for a few seconds but then it will stop when I rock him or he hears my voice soothing him. Don’t know if it’s normal either.

That happened to my baby and we took him to the doctor and it was a tummy ache (gas/colic) but they said burp him between feedings and gripe water.

@Clairen of course!

just got home from the appointment. She said it's probably him struggling to/not getting into the deep sleep since it's only nap time and not happening at night.
