We are increasingly worried about our 1 year old, paediatric consultants are refusing to see us and we are always referred back to our Healthvisitor.
Since birth, he has always gone to sleep in his Graco Glider/Swing - we’ve just easily transferred him with a bottle to bed and this has always worked until recently.
We’re now at a point where he’ll sleep from 7-7:30pm until 8:30pm… stir or we can catch him before he does… then he wakes up an hour after being put down, then this cycle continues until 12:30am where he expects another bottle and he screams hysterically (no tears) until he’s put in his swing.
I’m edging a nervous breakdown quite frankly, I don’t know how long I can keep up the sleepless nights and nobody seems to know what I can do… he’s getting too big for the swing, he has 0% chance of self soothing capabilities like most babies which guts me as it is but there isn’t any alternative.
What the hell am I meant to do? I mean whilst writing this he’s in his swing after his routinely screaming fit from 11:30pm-12:30am - I’m in absolute tears and I literally don’t want to be here anymore.

Cuddle in bed with him? I know it’s not recommended but it works sooo well for us

I’ve been so tempted to get a king size bed and let him cuddle with us to be honest, it might be my only way 😩. I just feel sorry for him for lack of sleep, sorry for myself and my neighbours when he’s hysterically crying xxx

I was going to suggest co sleeping too but personally I cannot get good rest whilst he’s between us because I’m just panicking that my husband will roll on him…
Sleep training? And it doesn’t mean you just jump straight to the CIO method. There are so many ways you can approach this with gentle sleep training..if that doesn’t work you can try Ferber too..Your baby learnt and got used to falling asleep every time in the swing/with a bottle for a whole year. That’s a habit he learnt and will not change unless you help him learn something else that suits both of you. Won’t be easy because it’s a massive change..Seems that both you and baby could benefit from having unbroken sleep.
I’m surprised the health visitor hasn’t suggested this?
Look into sleep training methods and as long as you stay consistent which is key, I pretty much guarantee you will both sleep a lot better. xx

Look up happy co sleeper group on Facebook

I would definitely suggest co sleeping. There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s totally normal for a baby to want to be close to us. I know people have different experiences with it, but I actually find I sleep better with her next me!

My little boy is a nightmare to get to sleep right now, constantly fighting it, some days won’t even nap 😭. We find co sleeping works at the moment, not ideal but we take turns so we get a proper sleep every other night (got an air mattress in his room for us 😂) and once he’s maybe 18 months or so we are thinking of getting a floor bed so we can just go in beside him for a bit and then hopefully leave him once he’s in a deep sleep 🤞xx

I would also say co sleeping if you can, it's been the only way we get any sleep! My partner and I top and tailed 🤣 and I was at the bottom, with baby with me on the outside of the bed with the next to me next to her. I tried to transition to her cot and it didn't work at all, so I got rid of her cot and got a single floor bed, so we can co sleep in there instead 🥴🥴 Wishing you all the best 🙏🏻 lack of sleep is absolutely the hardest thing for me x

that’s exactly what I wanted to do!! Do it do it do it. No it’s not suggested but it works. If you don’t think your partner is careful enough not to roll into him get a mesh side for your side of the bed and have you in the middle. I used to have my sons cot next to the bed but the side of the cot inbetween us, I took off (if that makes sense) so that I was in the middle of the bed basically. It was amazing. He slept great. Now he’s in his own room and sleeps great. There’s space in his bed if he’s not sleeping well that night for me to go sleep in there so I can sleep too!

I bed share with my 11 month old. I went back to work early and I couldn’t see any other way to get any sleep. It’s not as restful or comfortable as if she’s was in her own bed but I get some sleep and I can function.
As above, look up the happy co sleeper group on Facebook and page on Instagram. Research the safe sleep 7. Do it safely and hopefully both of you will get more rest.

If you can afford it... go away for a couple of nights... anywhere. My Lzo was stuck to a thing where he would only drink his bottle, then fall asleep if he was in the pram or car seat. This became so tiresome, even in the awful weather with 2 cots upstairs (travel and normal) I had to go and get his pram.out of the car every single nap time. It was killing me n I just felt like why can't my baby be normal. He's been up about 4 x over the past 2 nights but he's just got 4 new teeth at once, up til then he was sleeping from around 9.30pm til 8.30am (yes felt like a dream and I'm hoping the teething pain stops soon). Anyway, I went on holiday with my Mum, he ended up drinking milk/napping in his pram, but would have it in my arms at night (like he always has done) anyway I dreaded the 4.5 hour flight, surprisingly he took the bottle in my arms and fell asleep, since I've come home it gave me confidence and the change to his routine to break a habit. He now has his milk in my arms before being put down for sleep

We co sleep as our boy was a nightmare too, we’re all now sleeping soundly in the same bed x

My little one has been waking up every 1-2 hours since before Christmas. Some nights are easier than others. But if she doesn’t settle, usually around the 4am mark, I give in and co sleep. I don’t get much rest but it’s less stressful
