We had a sad thing happen where our 2.5 year old toddler decided to do a countdown and kick his eight month baby brother in the face. Backstory I was just feeling like I’m breaking point from exhaustion anyway and so I reacted poorly by telling my partner who was standing right there but busy serving my toddler dinner, I basically blamed my partner by saying “how did you not hear the countdown and stop him???” And then my super reactive partner said back in an aggressive tone “are you fucking kidding me are you stupid, you must be dumb…” so while the baby cried we went at it for a min and then I walked off and went into the guest room with the baby. Toddler followed me to play more (he doesn’t get it when we tell him it’s not ok to kick) and I was so mad and tired I basically told my toddler I want space and I’m super upset he kicked his brother. I planned to check out early tonight for the first time in months but now I feel guilty. My partner is very reactive verbally and can’t control himself when he says FUCK and my toddler is repeating it now. I need advice what to do in a situation like this. Otherwise our toddler is sweet boy and not aggressive, and very few close to no meltdowns.

Ok so first off.... this is normal for a toddler to do. It's awful but they are learning and they don't know how to completely m verbalize yet. I have a book called "feet are not for kicking". They have a whole series of different things for his age. Also, do you have any form of discipline for him?
Lastly, it sounds like you and you and your partner are burnt out. Can you both get someone in your support system to come and give you guys a break? You need it. You have so much on your plate. And try to not feel guilty. You are human and need space too. How can you be "on" when you are pouring from an empty cup?
