My postpartum anxiety has turned into full blown postpartum depression and my husband is not taking it seriously. Our daughter’s pediatrician and my OB have told him that he needs to be there for me. My friends and family that have gone through it have, also, told him that he needs to be there for me. I have told him multiple times that I need his support. I’m not sure if he doesn’t realize how serious it is or if he just doesn’t care. We have been arguing for the past 2 weeks because I’ve needed extra help with the baby, but his cleaning our friends house has been his main priority. Today has probably been the worst though. He told me that he leaves the house to see our friends so he won’t have to deal me. I just don’t know how much clearer I can possibly be. I have to do another screening for postpartum depression tomorrow and I plan on being extremely honest about the lack of support. My support system is on the other side of the country, but they try as hard as they can to be there for me. I’m just so lost right now and I have no idea where to go from here

Sorry to hear. If I’m honest you just got to accept that he doesn’t want to support you and just get on with it. I’ve been in the same situation as you and nothing you can really do except ride it through. Praying also helped me and you will look back be proud of yourself because you will realise that you are stronger than you think and also realise that you dont need anybody as you got yourself. Having a family support worker will also help something to consider. Wish you all the best

I've been in this situation. You've got to realize no one can be there for you like you can be for yourself. Accept that he's not going to support you. Mind over matter, tell yourself you got this mama. PPA and PPD is HARD. after you accept he won't be supporting you your whole outlook will change. You won't be focusing on relying on him.

I felt similar with PNA I was so concerned about things and felt my husband was not taking it seriously or didn't care. In hindsight I think in the moment my strong feelings weren't rationale and he could probably see that but also he didn't really understand how I was feeling. I felt I was explaining it well but he could never understand it. It's important you feel supported but I think we can only help ourselves out of it x

I am guessing he doesn’t know what you mean when you say “ I need support”. You might have to spell it out like a literal list. Examples: 1. I need you to help me with the last feeding before bedtime so I can have a break. 2. I need you to help me make sure I take a break to eat lunch.
Also, I agree with you that postpartum anxiety is serious . Are you taking meds ?

I have epilepsy and one of my meds is also used as a mood stabilizer so the doctor doesn’t see a need to put me on another. The most I’ve been given is something to help when my anxiety gets really bad

I see you.
