I started EBF then due to difficulty latching which was really getting me down and was v stressful and tearful and went to combi feeding at 4 weeks. Latching became a little easier but then struggled with over supply and fast letdown and LO wouldn't stay on my boob long and would be very unsettled BF. This continued despite a lot of support and advice from health visiting team/groups etc and I went to full formula a week ago.
LO has taken to bottle well and sleeping longer than 1 hour stints now. However I'm feeling incredibly guilty and feel I maybe should have tried again.
My boobs went through the painful, rock hard, leaking everywhere stage and now feel softer and hardly leaking now after a week.
Is it possible to reintroduce a couple of breastfeeding feeds again or is this too late? Or is it not fair to my baby to keep messing around with his feeding routine now he's more settled. Have been feeling really low since stopping BF but my partner keeps reminding me that I also found it upsetting and stressful too. On times when he latched well it was the most lovely experience and I miss this closeness.

There’s no harm in trying. Personally in this situation I would try express some (even by hand) to stimulate the supply again even if you don’t want to continue doing that, just to make sure it’s still there and save it if it’s about to go. There is also medication you can get to bring lactation on but very hard to get on NHS so probs have to go private but if you’re ‘hardly leaking’ but still a little bit then the supply is still there. Get baby back on there, go for it. Best decision ever xx
