Ladies, what panties did you use after your C-section? I mean immediately after the surgery does the hospital give you special underwear to use, or do you bring your own in? (I'm in the UK and am not sure what the hospital provides)
I know that any underwear of my own will need to be high waisted so it doesn't rub on the stitches.
I am starting to buy things for my hospital bag so wanted to get some advice before I start shopping.
Thank you!

Bamboo high wasted knickers from Kmart in 1-2 sizes bigger. (Australia)

I just wore my normal underwear..

With my first pregnancy my partner's boxers! Haha they sat perfect! But thinking I might get some high wasted period knickers this time! As long as they're nice and soft.

I’m US based and they gave me some high waisted boy short underwear and the pads to go in them. You will bleed after your surgery, so unless you’re 100% confident in your pads ability to hold everything, don’t take anything you’re not comfortable getting stained/ruined.

Adult diapers lol trust me..huge life saver

I'm in the UK & bought high waisted full cotton pants & made sure they were honestly about 4 sizes bigger than my usual! They were perfect as came right up above my belly button & were loose and stretchy so didn't irritate the wound & also fit well over the dressing x

Tena disposable pants in xl- absolute life saver with the post partum bleeding and when you can’t bend over. They don’t tell you about all the blood right after either, no matter what type of delivery you have. High waisted period pants for at home, M&S I got.

I had an emergency c-section so I wasn't prepared and just wore my normal underwear as I had a dressing over the scar so it didn't rub but that was taken off on day 5 so I got my partner to get me high waisted ones from m&s
The hospital didn't give me anything

Immediately after youd most likely still have the catheter in for 12 hours so I just had the gown on and they had me sit on those big pads x

I wore depends until I stopped bleeding. It was easier than the hospital provided pads and disposable undies. (I’m in the US)

The Frida disposable pants are great: https://www.boots.com/fridamom-high-waist-disposable-postpartum-underwear-8pack-10292829?cm_mmc=bmm-buk-google-ppc-_-PLAs_HeroCompare-_--_-PMax:+UK_Smart_Shopping_Baby&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADrIajXODgtmGDM4wndKLu71Gg8eV&gclid=CjwKCAiA_aGuBhACEiwAly57MakD9W16wPBOwQoTIi8Oh_FrH5LkGWRFiN3sBpQRoOvA2tpxqsb6sBoClAIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Tenna lady disposable pants, very comfy and better than a pad for post bleeding x

https://amzn.eu/d/3zxo4Rp I used these.. much cheaper than Tena or Always. They’re high waisted and comfortable but I haven’t bled that much so I’m switching to normal pads with cotton high waisted briefs I bought from Morrisons.

I wore the panties the hospital gave. After I ran out of those, adult diapers. Then, I went to loose fitting briefs. Now, after 9 weeks, I’m back to underwear I used to wear.

I used always discreet diapers

I bought black high waisted knickers and wore pads in there.
I also bought Tena pants too which you can buy in boots. High waisted so no aggravating the scar.

Hospital told me not to wear the diapers due to them making the incision more moist. I got super high wasted cotton underwear from Amazon. My normal underwear hit my right at the incision so I would definitely recommend the high wasted ones so you don’t irritate it.
thanks for this! A friend of mine recommended the same. Do the Tena pants generally come up above the incision line?
thank you! I have put them into my wish list 😁
oh I didn't realise. I thought the adult diapers were breathable. Thanks for the heads up!
Thank you for all the input, ladies! 🙏🏼

Breathable or not, I didn’t wear them for that long. Only the first day or so, and I made sure I dried my incision with cold air from the hairdryer. Yes they do come up high. May as well get both types see what works for you. The frida ones didn’t fit me at all, I’m a uk size 18 and the xl wouldn’t even go up.
