Hi my little boy will be three in May, I have read that once the child turns three you are entitled to 30hrs childcare if you earn under 100k per year and are working.
I saw that from April this year children over 2 are eligible for 15hrs free if you work and earn under 100k per year but how do we apply for this? I haven’t received a code in my secure msgs on my tax free childcare account. Do I need to apply or will they send me a code once he reaches a point where we are eligible? I’m a little confused by it all. Are there different criteria for qualifying for the over 2’s funding?

I'm not sure about the eligibility side of it but I'm fairly sure you have to apply, I've had someone ring me a few times about it but I'm not sure if that's just because they know I've not put my boy in a nursery yet and honestly don't intend to personally but you might be able to find it on Google or if someone on here doesn't know more I'd try asking your hv maybe

You wouldn’t be able to claim the 30hr funding until September. But its worth applying for the 2year funding as that’s for working families from April x

https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-childcare-if-youre-working you can apply on here

https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk this website is also good, it will tell you what you’re entitled to and apply through that

My son will be 3 years in May to. On my tax free childcare account, I was sent a code in my secure messages (in Jan) that I gave to our nursery and then from April, he can claim the free 15 hours.

You need to apply and it will take effect from April, the 30 hours wouldn’t kick in until the term after he’s 3 so it would be September. My son is also 3 in May
