My son has just opened up and said that his “best friend” pushed him into a corner on the school playground and bent down then kissed his private area, where do I go from here, do I go into school or somewhere higher

Wow. How old are they?

I would say this is a fairly serious matter and possibly not for the reasons you might think.
Your son was of course the victim in this specific incident, however for a child of that age to do something like that, it is highly unusual that they would even have an awareness of that kind of behaviour... unless they have been exposed to behaviour like that themselves - which could be through some form abuse or something they've witnessed that they shouldn't have. Needless to say that as much as it needs to be address, there is a possibility that the child in question may also need help.
Maybe it isn't as serious as that, and I hope for the sake of everyone involved it isn't, but something to keep in mind.
If I was in this situation my first step would be to arrange a meeting as a matter of urgency with your child's class teacher and for the headteacher to be there or, at the very least, whoever is in charge of safeguarding. They will doubt have measures in place that they will need to follow.

That's a shocking thing for you to hear about and you must be feeling pretty upset and worried, I hope you and your son are ok. You can talk to him about boundaries and his private, personal space and how it's never ok for someone to invade that. And obviously how it's always right to tell you about these things. Well done him for speaking up, you must have a great relationship. Xx
Definitely going to arrange a meeting, I’ll go straight to the head teacher, and if I don’t get any where with him I’ll try and get in contact with the executive headteacher, my son has just said he has been trying to keep away from this child

Not a nice situation to be in, I'm so sorry. It sounds like there could be some issues there for this other child that definitely need attention. Hopefully there haven't been any other incidents for your son, and you can reassure him that he did a great job telling you xx
The same boy continues to push my son to the ground and punch him, we’ve had bruises where the child’s pushed him into tables, but school are not willing to do anything about these situations

I would talk to boys parents maybe he saw this behaviour from them.

I’d pull your kid out until the issue is resolved. It doesn’t seem same for your son. And there is potential for him to be exposed in worse ways. Aside from the punching something worse can happen. The teacher, principal and the parent of the child hurting your child should be there in the meeting as well.

I think it should be up to the school's safeguarding procedures to work out if and when to involve the other childs parents. If there's a chance the other child is a victim of abuse himself and this behaviour is learned that way, the school may want/need to take a different approach to ensure the child is safe. The teachers may even be aware of other factors involving the child. The staff I'm sure will take steps to protect your son once they are aware, but may need to also take steps to help the other child that may require not involving his parents.
