I am the bridesmaid in a friend’s wedding this April. My LO will be almost 7 months old. My husband will be there and will be taking care of baby as I will be running around doing wedding things. I’m nervous that baby is going to have a hard time being out for a whole day. If my husband comes with me at the time I need to get ready, baby will be out with us from at least 10am-8 or 9pm, or if he leaves home later it’ll be maybe 3pm-9pm with an hour car ride there and home. I EBF so am planning to try to get baby used to taking bottles at least every other feed for a few weeks beforehand so it isn’t a sudden change on the wedding day. I’m still nervous it’s going to be a lot on my husband, although he thinks it’ll all be fine (anxious mom probs)
Has anyone taken their LO to events like this and what did you do to prepare and make sure the day was manageable? Also.. do I dress him up??

I'm getting married in September and one of my Bridesmaids will have a 3 month old. I've already told her I expect very little of her, she can do whatever she needs to focus on the baby. There will be enough other people around to help me with stuff if needed. I've also offered her the dressing room so she can feed, baby can sleep etc. I would speak to your friend about it! I'm sure she will understand your anxiety and help where she can.
At 7 months I probably would dress him up!

We took baby girl to 2 weddings in September, she was barely 2-3 months old, don’t worry to much, if daddy is confident he will be ok he probably will and you won’t be too far if you are desperately needed.
I dressed her up, any opportunity to dress that cutie up is always welcome lol
I recommend noise cancelling headphones as it can get loud and it might be scary for baby if not use to it, get them asap and put them on baby often, few minutes here and there to get them use to wearing them before the big day, my girl barely moved during the big speeches applauses lol
Baby carrier would be helpful, especially if baby is able to sleep in it, my girl spent half the evening asleep on her daddy’s chest, life saver
Maybe a few toys and anything familiar for confort

headphones - good idea will def look into that

we didn’t have them for the first wedding and spend half the evening outside as she couldn’t stand it, it made a massive difference at the second wedding, she slept through most of the evening

did you use ones that avoid their soft spot or traditional ones?

I use these. Doesn't bother her at all.

I took my 11 month old to my brother’s wedding. I was the photographer and also getting ready with the bride so my husband had bubs,m. He brought him to see me every now and then and he got a bit fussy at times but it was mostly okay. I had to go hide for a bit to feed him at points - make sure your dress is able to de-boob is all I’d say!

I had my baby at my cousins wedding. She was 7 months and ebf. My cousins and uncle watched her during the day while we were getting ready (I was a bridesmaid). She had bottles and did fine. I did feed her before the wedding (make sure you pump or feed if you tend to leak lol) and she sat in the back with family during the wedding. My sister also had a baby a few months older so when they got loud they were taken out so they wouldn’t disturb the wedding. The wedding was a few hours from home - my daughter went back with my parents after the ceremony and stayed the night with them. I went to the reception, stayed with my aunt & family and then picked her up the next morning. She did fine.

I was a bridesmaid at a wedding and my baby was only 6 weeks old. He was fine being out all day but I didn’t have the foresight to bring bottles so I had to breastfeed him all day and he happened to be cluster feeding, it was a nightmare.
Anyway I think you just need to trust in your husband (which I know is easier said than done trust me!). He is as much a parent to your baby as you are so he should be able to handle a day looking after your LO. I would take a pram with you so if baby needs a sleep you can pop them down in it and find a quiet space for them.
Also yes dress him up, it’s cute 🥰

Do half days weekly before the wedding so he can get used to it. I mean, I went on a gfs bday when I was 3m pp and hubby had the baby i think 6-7hrs that day, I had to pump twice while out but he was amazing w the baby so I did it more often 😂 knowing he’ll be ok. You’ll need to take half days off going out or self care, weekly, until the wedding

As a bridesmaid wouldn’t you have to go to many fittings and meetings and rehearsals anyway? Use those days to “prepare him” leaving baby home w Hubby.

My sister was the maid of honour at my wedding when her first was 8 months old. The same thing happened that her husband had the baby most of the day but brought him to his mom to nurse and spend time with mom. Everything went great but I second what someone else said: make sure you can nurse baby in your dress! This made things so much easier for my sister. Also, make sure the bride isn’t expecting you to be a bridesmaid without a baby. Baby may need to spend some time with you and you shouldn’t have to stress over the bride being irritated. My nephew got dressed for the wedding with the wedding party and came to the photos location.

Do you use a baby carrier at all? I've seen some beautiful pictures of bridesmaids with they're babies in slings even in wedding photos. You can also feed in a sling (providing your dress also allows for feeding)
