I am at week 28, and I am nesting a lot... is it too early to start washing my baby's clothes? These are not new clothes they have been donated to us by friends and family.

I’m 27 weeks, I already washed everything so i could put them away and organize the dresser. I’m not sure if there’s a too soon

good to know I'm not alone out there lol

I like to get things done early 🫣

@Courtney it's OK, I wanted to get it all washed when I received it all 2 months ago 😆 but my husband kept saying it was too soon lol

I asked the same thing because i’m not sure either. We still need to get a dresser but once we do i’d like to wash stuff and put it away

Everytime I filled his laundry basket with stuff i washed it. We are moving during this pregnancy so im waiting till then to wash stuff for this pregnancy. And I’ll be rewashing all our clothes so

I wouldn’t say now is too early especially if it’ll be in a dresser or closed container. You might want to wait on sheets just because baby won’t be in the crib for a while but everything else why not. And bottles I’d wait on those if you’re using them

Same. I’m
Only 25 weeks and I’ve washed our son’s clothes and organized them but I won’t be washing the bottles, towels and blankets until closer to my due date.

I started around that time with my first 🩷 i even packed my hospital bag at 34 weeks 🤪 I literally didnt go into labor until 40 weeks 🫠

I got mostly everything brand new. Haven’t washed them yet but they are organized in the under the bed sealed zipper bag for storage until I can set up the nursery after the baby is already here

I washed stuff as I got a load worth, too keep on top of it. Never too early. It's not going to get dirty once its washed. 🙂

Speaking of laundry do you really need to buy baby detergent for washing the clothes? I figured as long as I use a scent free detergent I should be good right?

no you don’t need specific baby detergent. I like dreft because I like the smell of it personally and it doesn’t bother my son’s skin. We tried the free and clear and I didn’t think it actually did anything for the clothes and it left a smell on our towels

we use all free and clear and a light scent fabric rinse. We just switched all the detergent for the house over to that. and it’s been fine for my nicu baby.

That's not nesting

I washed them and put them away as soon as I got them. I tend to get really lazy towards the end so I didn't wanna leave it till the last minute. Also Cassandra, that IS nesting. It presents differently in everyone and at different times. Some people reorganize the nursery, some make a comfortable spot on the couch, and some buy stuff. There's no specific way to nest and not everyone will do the same stuff
