Currently having a lot of anxiety because I’ve been seeing this owlet sock everywhere and as nice as it looks, I can’t drop 300$ on it I simply cannot afford it. Has anyone gone without it? Or is not planning on using it?

Never used it with my first born and he is ok and thriving. My baby’s bassinet is right next to my bed and I have a baby monitor for naps. It’s great if someone can afford to have it and wants it but I do not see it as a necessity.

My labor and delivery class at the hospital advised against it, saying that it just gives most moms more anxiety. It has quite a few bells and whistles that alert but don't actually mean anything is wrong, giving you extra reasons to wake up and just be false alarmed.
I know some moms swear by it, but if you're an anxiety girly like me then I personally am not going to be purchasing/asking for it.

It’s not needed and not really worth it🤷🏻♀️ it alerts for reasons that aren’t alarming and in the long run 1.) you go without more sleep and 2.) you have more anxiety. Just sleep with baby in a bedside bassinet/combo pack and play for the first 3-6 months to help ease your worries. The risk of SIDS drops after 6 months (still a risk though). We didn’t use one for my 11 month old who was a NICU baby for respiratory problems and he is perfectly fine and thriving.

I opted to buy one because I know it’ll give me more peace of mind and know a lot who recommended it to me. With that being said I also know it’s not for everyone and they are pretty expensive. If you feel that for you it’s something that you’d really like - I’d suggest putting it on your registry and having it be something that multiple people could go in on together if you haven’t already had your baby shower. Additionally not sure if you have an HSA but I have a HSA and the owlet was HSA eligible!
I think in general though you’ll find people that love it and those who don’t think it’s worth it or would cause more anxiety so it’s really a personal preference, just providing some thoughts on if you really wanted one!

I’m getting the baby sense sleep 7. It basically goes under the mattress so doesn’t touch baby and it’s half the price
