Hi, my baby is 12 weeks old and I've noticed in the last 2 weeks that he is drooling a lot and biting his fist...I thought he might be too young for teething but after speaking to some other mums at baby groups it seems I was wrong! My baby also has a lot of gas after feeds...the main issue I'm having is that he is crying a lot at the moment, more than usual and it's so hard when you try everything to console a crying baby and it doesn't work...I feel myself going dizzy with how stressed it makes me feel...Will this pass? Any tips to help at all? Any other November mums identify with these symptoms? Thanks x

God I feel like I wrote this post myself, I am having the exact same issue with my little girl who is 13 weeks this Friday! 3 times this week she has been screaming crying as if she’s in serious pain, hyperventilating, she’s even choked so much that she was sick and it’s also made me SO anxious! I thought she was just overtired but she’s had all those symptoms too with teething, I took her to the GP and they said they can’t feel anything but sometimes teeth can just appear! X

Natalie, I am also in exact same boat. My little boy is also 12 weeks and going through exactly word for word you wrote. He is drooling and releasing lots of gas. I am taking him for his monthly weighing on Thursday and going to ask Health visitor what these symptoms mean and how can I help my little one. It’s so frustrating to see them in pain. I am not sure if it’s growth spurt, teething pain or something else.
I thought he is constipated so I gave him boiled cooled water. 30ml. He did 2 poops today after 2 days.

Same with my little girl, who’s nearly 15 weeks. On Friday she cried hysterically for 8 hours straight until 10pm. Yesterday it was 6 hours. It’s utterly gut wrenching 😔

Oh gosh Clare. How did you calm her down?

Thanks so much for your responses ladies! It really means a lot to know I'm not on my own. I ended up phoning my sister in pure frustration, my partner was upstairs with the baby and I could hear him screaming and crying, I had to walk away because I couldn't take much more of it. Baby has finally fallen asleep whilst trying to feed him...its almost like he REALLY fights his sleep but I felt so bad for him because I thought it was either colic/tummy pain or teething....I've never seen him get so worked up when crying until he started with all this drooling and chewing on his fist....gah! Its a constant state of learning being a mum, this is my second baby but sometimes experience means nothing 😂 every baby is different!

literally this! My little boy is 13+3 and he’s been the exact same this week. I put it down to colic but truly have no idea!!

I’ve just replied to a comment above, I wonder what it is! My little one screamed the whole night a couple of days ago and has been like it through the day, just inconsolable until he literally cries himself to sleep in my arms. How strange

I totally feel you, I thought my LO was in severe pain as the cry was worse than when she’s had her jabs and it’s like she’s going to stop breathing she’s crying so much it’s soul destroying! Very normal to feel frustrated I do as well it’s bloody hard! I thought maybe colic but can this suddenly happen at 12 weeks?!

Im so glad i’m not alone! My boy is 14 weeks and is exactly this. Screaming in pain. Screams every time he passes wind. Putting his whole fist in his mouth and drooling! 🫣🤦🏻♀️

she eventually just settled - I feel almost like she just exhausted herself to the point she cried herself to sleep, it’s awful 😔

We had a much better night last night after 2 nights of just screaming so I’m hoping whatever it is has passed but i will see what he’s like today/tonight!!

Ahhh yes my little boy has been the same this week he’s 12 weeks it’s also half term and I have a 2 year old prob the worst week for it 😂none stop screaming! On the wonder weeks app it says he’s in a leap and In the fussy stage so this couldn’t be contributing but I also think it’s defo teething! Xx
