So I’m getting married in July 2025!!! In this day and age who’s helping with your weddings financially? My family are paying for almost everything and my partners family come up with excuse after excuse when it comes to asking them to pay for something (for example their own accommodation!!)? They seem to want every input and decision known to man but don’t want to contribute financially🤦♀️
More of a vent than anything but seriously are your partners parents helping financially? I know traditions, the brides parents pay but that’s rarely the case these days surly!! I’m obvs on mat leave which takes saving money to a whole new level x

I got married in 2015 but we paid for everything (me and my husband). My mam contributed about £1000 which was really appreciated but was a drop in the ocean compared to what the whole wedding cost. I don’t think there is a right or wrong these days, everyone is in different situations. My family never had money. My husband’s family have a bit but they didn’t give us anything for the wedding and I wouldn’t expect them to.

We got married in 2018 and my parents very kindly paid for it. My husband’s Dad gave us £1,000 towards it.
We had a fairly big wedding and I must say I do regret it. If I had my time again I’d do something more intimate and save the money/ pay off a chunk of the mortgage. I’m horrified by how much I spent on one day! But it’s so easy to get caught up in it all. To think you “need” matching dressing gowns with your bridesmaids etc etc!
In terms of your partner’s family, if they don’t want to, or can’t afford to contribute, that’s fair enough but they shouldn’t expect to make the decisions! x

We’re getting married in 2026 but are paying for it ourselves. I wouldn’t expect my parents to pay for my wedding as I’m a grown woman I’ll be 40 when I get married 😂 and have 3 kids so definitely don’t qualify for parents paying for it. Were going abroad as can’t be dealing with the expense in the UK x
