For starters, I’ve always felt that I’ve loved babies, the joys of being a mother and pregnancy, etc
I’m 22 weeks, I’ve felt very disconnected. Part of it in the beginning, was the situation that clouded the joy. Now I’m able to feel her move but it’s almost like I’m fighting creating a bond. I don’t know how to explain it… I’ve always wanted to be a mom and it’s like now that it’s come… I still have a hard time believing, bonding, connecting, talking with her or loving myself and my body and embracing it. I’m too trapped on negatives.

I would say don’t feel guilty or down, it’s probably because you put so much pressure and expectations on the way you feel and you’ll also be full of hormones and feelings, trust me it will come xx

I really feel this. My little one is 6 months now and I couldn’t love her more. During my whole pregnancy I was terrified of even thinking about a baby. Much less someone who depends on me. I have had several miscarriages, her birth was planned and I still couldn’t connect with her in my belly. It just freaked me out too much. When I finally had her, (it was a really bad pregnancy) because I had preeclampsia, I couldn’t really look at her. I was in the hospital for over a week and a half. My BP wasn’t going down so I was one a ton of medication. I would look at her in her bassinet and just not feel anything. I cried myself to sleep because I was positive I couldn’t love her. (She was healthy, she could’ve left that day but she had to stay with me) I never breastfed her (again to scared) and only did formal. My husband has been a HUGE help. Once I got used to her and was given time to actually take her in it helped. It doesn’t happen all at once and it isn’t an Ah Ha moment. (Pt1)

(Pt2) It was a gradual transition. One day I realized I loved her. I was just talking to her and telling her all about me and her daddy. I told her I loved her and it shocked me because it was true. It was real. Don’t worry if it takes you time, no matter how long. I wouldn’t change how any of this happened. I needed time and space. It is different for everyone. I hope this helps. Best wishes ❤️❤️🩹

Do not feel guilty at all! Pregnancy and becoming a mom is loaded with confusing emotions and feelings. Your hormones are going crazy and it’s totally okay and even normal to feel disconnected! Trust yourself and dont force anything! Thinking of the negatives is SO normal. I did throughout my whole pregnancy. It’s almost like you’re afraid to build any connection incase the worst case scenario happens. All I can say is take it day by day, don’t be so hard on yourself. Every woman is different and every pregnancy is different! There is no one way to do it or feel! Give yourself grace!

Don't stress. I think once the baby comes and u can physically hold and see your baby, u will feel different. I love my baby, but I'm also having trouble fully connecting. My bf is more connected than me tbh. Don't beat yourself up about it just do little things to connect each day like have a conversation or just watch TV and rub ur belly
