Sterilizing pump parts and bottles?

5 months healthy EBF babes- hasn't taken any bottle or dummy (not tried) but due to work etc. I'm going to trial pumping and bottle-feeding but.... Do I need to sterilize all pump parts and bottles after every single use? How do others do this? I'm just a bit sceptical as baby sticks everything in their mouth and when in bath or swimming pool pretty sure intakes water too 🤣

I was told that as breast milk doesn’t have any bad bacteria, that you can just wash the pump parts in hot soapy water. I’m not sure about after every use as I only pump when I’ve been out. I’m sure I read somewhere about storing it in the fridge but maybe research that one 😂

thanks that's very helpful! Not planning on doing it all the time, only for when going to work/nursery or perhaps if someone were to look after the baby. It makes sense really doesn't it, especially when baby isn't a fresh newborn anymore. But perhaps there are others that say differently x

I sterilise everything, pump and bottles but I would be happy with just doing the bottle!
My LO is not taking the bottle at the moment. What bottle are you going to use? Maybe I should change mine? I am using the MAM with the newborn teat. Thanks x

Fair enough! I think I'm just going to sterilise for first use and then soapy water after every use but sterilise after a few uses of something like that.

Just going to try it with a mam bottle we got for free to start with 😆🤭 just because we have no idea how she'll react to it. I've not got any experience or knowledge of bottles, teats or anything like that so will just be winging it! Also don't want to spend money on something not sure how it will work out so just deciding as we go kinda thing xx

The instructions in my pump say to sterilise after each use. I only pump once a week so boil sterilise after each use x

Instructions of my pump says to wash and sterilise before first use. Then wash with warm soapy water after each use and sterilise every 24 hours

NHS guidance says to sterilise after every use (which I personally find excessive). I pop my pump parts in the fridge after use and sterilise every other time I use it. I exclusively pump

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

Am I wrong?

I’ve been wanting to add more garden beds to my garden. Husband says “hey do you want to go to Home Depot to get that wood for the garden beds.” Cool I’m excited I’ve been wanting to get this done for awhile.

We get there and we’re picking out wood and I make 2 comments about how I don’t like how 2 pieces of wood look that he picked out. And he says if you’re going to be this picky then u can do this yourself.

I literally made 2 comments and mind you I’m the one paying for the wood.

I felt dismissed and like my opinion didn’t matter and if I wanted to have an opinion then I need to do it myself. Like what?

It was rude and not okay. Am I wrong? Am I overreacting?

He thinks it was fine that he said that.

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
