We're in UK. I love this name with nickname remi. But does it make u think of the hairdryer/straightener/shaving brand? If u like it what middle would u use?

It absolutely makes me think of the hairstyling instruments I'm sorry 😬.

Just name him Remi!

Avatar

You could name him Remmel and use Remi potentially? It does make me think of the hairstyling brand, sorry!!

Avatar

Yes I’m afraid it does! I much prefer Remi/ Remy just on its own and have met people called this so it is a ā€˜proper’ name if that’s your worry

Avatar

It didn’t for me until you said it. I think it’s a nice name and people would get used to it.

Avatar

I like Remi but not Remington

Avatar

My first thought was gunsšŸ˜‚. But I like the name. We actually considered it for my son.

Avatar

Neither me or my partner thought of the hairstyling/shaving products, just thought it sounded like a very old upper class name. Nice though if you like it go for it

Avatar

I instantly think of the hair straightener but I once looked after a boy in a childcare named Remington - it suited him and got the nickname Remi - totally up to you and what you like!

Avatar

I also never thought hair styling products- in USA makes us more likely to think about guns. Love the Name though and has a strong ring to it! I would use it!

Avatar

It made me think of Remington Steel. I didn’t think of the hair brand at all tbh.

Avatar

It makes me think of the fire arms

Avatar

That’s my sons name !!!

Avatar

Everyone that hears my sons name loves it Remington is the perfect name

Avatar

I thought of the gun šŸ˜‚ probably not a relevant association in the UK. I love the name Remi though.

Avatar

i love this name! i didn’t even know there was a brand named that

Avatar

oh my goodness, my husbands top choice for a girl is Kaori!!

Avatar

Thanks everyone. We may just go for it or maybe use just Remi

Avatar

Avatar

If you love it then go for it! Any associations people make won’t last long the name will just be his name ā˜ŗļø

Avatar

how do people react when they hear your name? I also love it but im thinking it sounds asian or maybe hawaiian and we're neither lol

Avatar

Avatar

C section overnight stay and a toddler

I will have an elective c section for my second baby (same as my first).

With my first, my partner stayed with me in the hospital overnight and helped me a lot with the baby so I had a pretty smooth recovery and was up and running 5 days postpartum.

Now, we need to decide if we should ask family members to come over (from abroad) and help with our toddler or we try to do the coordination/ management ourselves.

The hospital is only a 10 minute drive from our place and during the day my toddler will be at nursery (and my partner will be with me). I think I can handle 1-2 nights by myself at the hospital with the baby but I’m little concerned how would I lift the baby on day 1 given I will have a catheter. I don’t want to solely be relying on midwives. And if I fall asleep during the night, I’m also a bit worried about nobody looking after the baby.

You would think I would remember how it was the first night with my first but it’s all a blur.

What would you recommend if you had 2 c-sections and the same situation? Did you ask family to help?

Thanks!

Can someone describe contractions to me?

I’m having random pain in different parts of my belly and pelvis and I have a backache. I also had loose bowels earlier, and I feel baby girl moving super low in my pelvis. Is this early labour? My consultant OB wanted me to go to the local hospital at the first sign of labour (because I’m supposed to be delivering at a hospital farther away) but I was just there last night and basically no sign of labour. I don’t want to go for a false alarm.
Thanks!

Baby brother for Margot Olive

With a really annoying convoluted surname 🤣

Margot pronounced Mar-go (the same as Hugo I suppose) if that makes any difference.

Love Hugo but not sure if they sound silly together as they rhyme?

Growth

I went for a private scan 2 weeks ago but was only 5 weeks so they told me to come back in 2 weeks time, so today I went should be 7 weeks and baby is only measuring at 5 weeks 6 days. The sonographer was concern because they hadn’t grown as much as she’s liked. A heart beat was seen/ heard which is good & my sack was measuring 6 weeks 3 days.

I have to go again next week to check they have grown. Has anyone been through this and was everything okay in the end ??
