Our 15 week old little boy is a pretty good sleeper during the day and will nap in his pram downstairs when we need him to.
At night, he goes down to sleep pretty well at around 8:30pm, after doing our nighttime routine (book, feed etc). He’s now on formula after three months of primarily breastfeeding.
From about midnight onwards, his active sleep goes bizzerk. His movements are so frequent and so wild, it feels as though he’s not getting any sleep between midnight and 6am (and so neither are we!) The thing is his eyes are always closed. He’s never crying, just lots of leg thrashing arm, bashing etc. and he doesn’t seem to want a feed. He’s in a love to dream swaddle (arms up).
We have tried many times to put this down to active sleep , just settling him with a dummy as and when required. But every night we are questioning whether this is the right thing to do or whether we should be getting him up and feeding him when he has those bouts of activity.
Is anyone experiencing anything similar? Any ideas on how we might calm these movements? Will he just grow out of it?!
Thanks xx

Yes the active sleep is a nightmare!!! I have a 16 week old and his active sleep has ramped up again the past couple of weeks coinciding with sleep regression. He can sometimes be thrashing about every hour but I still only feed him once when his eyes are actually open and he has woken. The rest of the time I give him maybe 5 minutes to settle otherwise I pick him up and lay him on our bed, he calms instantly and I lift him back after a couple of minutes and he's back to sleep. It's very strange! Xx

We are in a same position and our little one also keeps making noises. I always wonder if it’s related with bowel movements somehow… I lack sleep so severely as a result of this :(

My baby is exactly the same - he sleeps soundly until after his first wake up and from then on he is just constantly moving - the other night he turned a full 90 degrees in his crib from moving so much. The advice I was given was don't wake them up properly/feed them until they are awake eyes open as a hungry baby will wake up, and to just let them move. I will say that colief before bed and during night time feeds has helped a lot and often he will do a big fart in his sleep and then stop moving quite as much

My little girl ends up every night in her crib side on - almost wedged in! She can’t be uncomfortable as she doesn’t wake but it’s like she fidgets constantly from around 2am
