I'm 10w 3d and I've been struggling with some awful tailbone pain. (I did message the doctor and I will see a PT but that isn't for 3 weeks yet.) I can't sit normally without pain and if I sneeze wrong it is excruciating. When it is really twisted I can't roll over without hurting.
I've also been dislocating my wrists like crazy, doing normal things. I tried to pull a bowl of soup out of the microwave yesterday and my wrist gave out. Soup everywhere. I can pop my wrists back into place though so it's not THAT big of a problem.
My hips are also slipping around and that on top of the tailbone issue makes walking painful.
I'm also 2in shorter. I don't know how, I don't know where it went, but I have been 5'6" for 10 years and now I'm 5'4".
I feel like my body is falling apart. Am I the only one? Is this normal? Will it go away?

So part of the reason is that your body is producing relaxin which is meant to help loosen around your pelvis to make room for baby. But it also loosens all our other joints and such. Sounds like you’re a pretty extreme case. Do you happen to have Ehlors danlos? It’s a connective tissue disorder that would make sense if your joints are just popping out of place.
You might need to get some braces for your wrists for the moment but definitely tell your doctor about how much is happening. Maybe they can at least get you in sooner to PT.

Thank you for the reply! No, I don't have anything diagnosed. Just pregnant 😅 I did look into it and I don't think that I am a match. I don't have particularly stretchy skin, trouble healing, or extra flexible joints.
I got the PT booked today but I did also send a follow up to the doctor. We will see tomorrow when they respond.
The braces for my wrists certainly sound nice. I wouldn't want to give my wrists an opportunity to get even more lazy though. I'm not sure if that is the right option for me but I will definitely look into it. Thank you again!

Yeah I wondered if it was just a pregnancy thing. Keeping your joints from popping out of place won’t make them lazy. If they need extra support in pregnancy, as long as you’re using your wrists still, it should cause long term issues.

Oh my goodness we are the same 😭 Have you had it every pregnancy? Boys or girls? It's a relief to hear it will at least go back to normal after baby is here. Thank you for saying something.
Do you have any tricks to get your hips back into place? Did your sacrum ever slip out of place? I could really use a trick for my tailbone.

Oh no 🤦♀️ I can't sit properly and they are sending me to physical therapy. I hope it can actually do something.
Did you ever have your husband try to push/pull it back in?
Hang in there! Goodness there must be something we can actually do.

Is your PT a pelvic specialist? I dealt with horrible SPD during my first pregnancy which it sounds like you may be experiencing. I stupidly didn’t see anyone until 8 weeks postpartum and was sobbing while sitting up to feed my baby. But I highly recommend seeing someone who exclusively works with pelvises. I still see mine every two weeks because it still gets misaligned frequently and they’re helping me with exercises that will strengthen my core for stabilizing my pelvis and help with birth.

thank you! Goodness I am glad I am getting in now then. Yes, it is specifically Pelvic PT. I have actually found a movement I can do that helps now when it is really out of wack (lay face down and do a figured 8 wiggle with my hips) I don't know how it works but it helps pull it back into a better position for me. It is absolutely *not* a long term fix though and I am really looking forward to the PT.
I'm so glad you said something because I really think I'm bothering my obgyn too much. They actually referred me back to my primary care doctor over all the issues I've been having. Hopefully it will all just go away sooner rather than later.
