Self settle- 4 month

Update: she has actually managed to fall asleep herself after 25 minutes of kicking about in her Moses basket, however will be due another bottle in the next 40 minutes 🤔 when normally she would usually wake and have 30/40 minutes wake window before her next bottle

We were exactly same for the first 4.. My baby will only sleep in our arms.. I just couldn't do anything all day. Slowly I noticed the first nap he wouldn't mind sleeping on its own even up to half an hour or 45 minutes. Afterwards we had to sort his cot out n moved him from moses basket due to length of his height. From very first day in the cot I decided he will need to sleep at night n during daytime nap.. I started putting him in cot fully awake not held. I stood behind the cot, it took 10 minutes n continue doing for few days. It really worked well. The trick I did.. Instead facing him towards the door I put him the other way round in the cot, basically he could only see wall. Which the trick worked for us

I did it as a gradual process. Giving her my full help to settle and every time giving less and less help until she could do it herself! I started by rocking her next to the cot and putting her in basically fully asleep and then I started putting her in and then stroking her nose etc to get her to sleep and now I can just put her in and sit next to her. My next step is to put her in and leave the room before she’s asleep🙈 btw it doesn’t always work, we’ve had several setbacks. For some naps she will do it and others she won’t but I think as long as you keep trying. Also I found if after 2 attempts she wasn’t doing it and getting really upset I would give up and try again next nap xx
