Bottle suggestions for EBF baby

I’ve been breastfeeding my son since birth. He’s 2 months old now and I want to start introducing bottles because his grandma will be watching him when I go back to work in April. I’ve tried como tomo and Phillips avent. He hates both of them. He cries and refuses after half an ounce.

Please leave suggestions of bottles that my EBF baby might like. We really need to start practicing with the bottle asap.

My baby has a strong preference for dr. Browns. I know a lot of people don’t like them and say they leak but I think they’re the closest in size to my actual breasts (the bottom of the nipple is smaller than other bottles and I have smaller nipples as well). They do leak a little, but she likes them and we just use a bib.

My baby likes dr browns but I ultimately switched back to Phillips avent and just sized up the nipple to the 3months plus for him (he’s two months old) because I hated washing the extra parts of dr browns and was annoying to make bottles when out to have to take it out to pour the milk in the bottle etc. but my baby isn’t very picky only if the nipple flow is too slow that’s all that seems to matter to him but something to keep in mind because that also is a factor to your baby liking a bottle or not
When I first tried the avent one the nipple flow was too slow so he’s drink barely anything and get mad because he couldn’t get milk out of it, it’s a common issue with them which is why most ppl just choose a higher flow nipple so it works best just a thought if you already have that bottle

My baby loves Dr brown

My breastfed baby uses comotomo at his babysitter’s or boon bottles for traveling. Babylist has a bottle sampler box if you want to try a couple different ones - they send you 5 or 6 different types to try.

We use dr browns- we also find that if she isn’t hungry enough she will only drink about an ounce then refuse so we just make sure to offer the bottle at a time we know she is very hungry to teach her how to use (after a long nap, first thing in the morning, etc)

We love the dr browns wide neck bottles. They’re great for avoiding gas, but the wide neck has a wider nipple which can be similar in width for the breast and their latch. I tried a few others previously and she either didn’t like the nipple or it caused gas issues.

My baby has been working well with Chiccos. I will suggest not completely ditching a bottle just because he doesn’t like it one or two times. Try it in different situations because my little girl hated every bottle until I stuck with one and snuck it to her between boobs while she was drowsy. Also make sure to use paced bottle feeding. I thought my daughter would love to finally have a fast flow, but she hated all the milk rushing into her mouth. Paced feeding takes practice for both baby and the person giving the bottle, There are a lot of YouTube videos on paced bottle feeding and it made a huge difference for me.

you don’t have to use the tube in Dr. Browns bottles.

We use Lansinoh

I completely forgot about the sample box. Definitely going to order lol thank you!

true but then that we’re the other issues with those bottles come in such as the nipple collapsing and bottle leaking etc I still keep them for back up and to have at my parents and stuff tho

Avatar

We got all of them but ended up only using dr brown

I just tried Lansinoh’s bottle for breastfed babies. My baby took it well!

we stopped having issues with leaking once we stopped using the tubes.

We use Life Factory glass bottles with Dr. Browns premie nipples, we found that using faster flow was too much for our baby.

Lansinoh and Evenflo balance+ work best for my son now and he’s EBF. He had a tongue tie that we corrected at around 2 weeks old. He had a hard time feeding with Philips Avent (which my daughter loved).

No seriously the dr browns wide neck is the only bottle he’ll drink from . He’s also ebf and hates Philips avent. Never had any issues with leaking or anything like that from the dr browns . A close second would probably be Tommy tippy but i don’t remember the exact one I think it was close to nature

Dr.Browns here. He is breastfed and gets one bottle a day with dad.

My LO refused the Dr browns; she's SUPER picky and will only latch on the MAM size 0 or size 1 nipple (I give her the 0 tho cuz with the size 1 she can drink 4 oz in 5 minutes, and she's got GERD). I really like them a lot but I use that nipple with the kiinde twist system cuz then she drinks straight from the storage bag which I pump straight into! She also only takes MAM pacifiers. I think it's something to do with the flat nipple feeling more natural in her mouth?

Avatar

we use mam too size 0 so he can eat slowly. He likes the pacifiers too.

I like the evenflo balance with the wide neck

My pediatrician recommended Mam with 0 flow and we love it! Our little one was struggling with every bottle we gave her, but this one has worked magic for us! We also breastfeed and switch back and worth pretty seamlessly :)

My boy only took Mam when it was time for that. Honestly, I was so desperate we kinda forced it. Waited until he was hungry enough and just made that the only option. I held it up at the roof of his mouth and slanted upwards so it's off his tongue and gag reflex. He cried a little and then finally latched and now he takes it easily.

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

AITA

In the uk there is an outbreak of meningitis, in a specific area mainly. My BD has family from that area and decided to go and meet up with them, I said if he does then he cannot have contact with the kids for 7-10 days after incase he picks anything up. Am I being over dramatic? I reallyyy don’t want my young kids getting anything serious

This might rattle some people

Ok, this might get a bit long, and a bit bumpy, so get comfy and buckle up.

So about a week or 2 ago, there was a post on here regarding sleepovers. Not letting their child go to them as you can't trust who'll be at the house etc.

Now, given recent incidents in nurseries and schools, plus my own experience back in the 90s, I am more concerned about sending my child to nursery and later school than I am to a friend's house for a sleep over.

The other day a man was jailed for abusing children at the nursery he worked at. A woman has been arrested for sleeping with an underage boy and then getting pregnant by a different underage boy while on bail for the first offence.

Young girls and boys get sexually harassed and bullied when at school, not all of them. But more than you think. And not just by other kids, but by adults who we as parents are trusting to look after our kids.

A sleepover, is a more controlled environment, with only a handful of people coming into contact with your child. A school, a club etc there can be 100s of people coming into contact with your child.

I was targeted at 7 years old by the owner of a prominent private school. Thankfully, I wasn't SA'd. In year 5 of primary school, I started to develop early, I was harassed by the boys and teachers made remarks about how my uniform didn't fit right, always "adjusting it" around my chest and legs.

Years 7-9 of secondary school were hell. But it was all under the guise of "we're just messing around". A teacher twanging my exposed bra strap (none uniform day) is not "messing around".

Boys pinning me down trying to rip open my shirt to see my breasts.

I fear for my daughter. I hope she takes after my father's family, flat chested.

We need to educate all our children, what is acceptable behaviour. And to come to us, as their parents should ANYTHING happen.

At this point I’m not enjoying motherhood

My 22 month old is horrendous at the moment🫣 biting, hitting, pushing, pulling and shoving not only adults but children he also wants what other children have and will just snatch it away from them.

We repeat ‘nice hands’ ‘be gentle’ ‘let’s share’ etc

But how do I make him understand what he’s doing isn’t very nice? At the end of the day I feel like I’ve just been saying his name all day and nothing else.

What can I do?

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.
