night sleep

my baby is 1 week old and we are having such a hard time getting her to sleep at night. She sleeps all day long and is maybe awake for 2 hours during the day and no matter how many times i try and wake her up she goes right back to sleep. how can i get her to sleep at night?

I had a similar experience but it got a lot better as the weeks and months went on as the baby gets more used to being in the world. It’s kinda like they’re not used to being on the outside just yet! It’s hard to keep them awake at that point or adjust their sleep pattern. At least that’s what I found at that stage. Baby’s sleep will change a lot as the first months go on. Congratulations on your new baby by the way :)

keep in mind right now they dont differentiate from night and day but with time that will be easier. Focus on making night time feel like it with white noise or a fan light blocking curtains etc. It never hurts to get into those habits ahead of time.
If your breast feeding its quite normal for baby to feed throughout the night often- also regulates your supply. its absolutely exhausting and you feel like youre losing your mind from sleep deprivation for a little but the best thing you can do right now is try to sleep during the day as much as possible. It’ll get better!!

My first born was exactly the same, completely nocturnal and would only really sleep from 6am-11am as ‘night sleep’. Trust me, I know it’s hard and feels like your life is turned upside down but it changed after 3 weeks once she was used to the world a bit more - hang in there, you’re doing great! Big hugs x

They don’t really work out night and day till 4 months. Make sure that even if she is sleeping in the day she is in a bright light room and at night keep it as dark as possible. It’s very normal it will improve xx

Try and really distinguish day and night to help develop her circadian rhythm.. wake up at the same time every day and open the curtains, same bed time each night and make sure it’s dark. Don’t let them go more than 3 hours without food in the day (decrease to 2 hours as they get a little older) so wake from nap to feed, even if they then fall straight back to sleep after the feed that’s fine.. changing her nappy always worked for us to wake her enough to get a decent feed in then back to sleep. Also I don’t think it’s ever too early to start a routine for bed time. We started at 1 week old, she’s now 19 weeks and been sleeping 11-12 hours solid every night since 7 weeks old. (Every baby of course is different but I do think doing all of the above really worked for us) xx

Make lots of noise during the day and make sure it’s bright in your house (lights on or blinds open) then at night make it dark and keep it more quiet (still making some noise if your awake so she’ll sleep through noise). She needs to learn the difference between night and day that’s all!

Same here! 1 week old
What I’ve been doing and it’s working so far (fingers crossed) it’s keep making noise during the day, leave blinds a little bit open so light comes in and waking him up every 2-2 and a half hours to eat no matter what

Since we’ve started doing this he is sleeping 4 hours stretches at night
We also bottle feed at night just to make sure he is getting enough milk

Wdy think of this for a toddler to learn word construction?

I'm open to anything else to start teaching him to read and write. He's 3!

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7
