Sorry for the long post!!…
For the last week we have started a new bedtime routine of going to bed earlier and then doing a dream feed.
7.00 - bath (if needed/need to kill time 😂)
7.30 last bottle
8pm - usually asleep around this time and self settles.
11pm - dream feed.
It was getting so draining keeping him going all evening until 11pm so we decided to do his bedtime earlier. We’ve had no problems with this, usually don’t hear a peep from him. We just have the monitor on and he’s fine. He goes back to sleep after the dream feed quite quickly and will then have 1 night feed but the time can vary. It can be anytime between 3-5am. However after that he can be very hard to get back to sleep. I’ll rock him, pat him etc and have to keep putting his dummy back in. He ends up in bed with us where he settles quite quickly. But then we don’t get any sleep as we are both conscious of him being in bed with us. I really don’t want to be doing this and don’t want to start getting into a habit!
I’m tempted to go back to the later bedtime (as painful as it is to keep him downstairs until bedtime 😩) as he seems to have the best sleep as soon as he goes to bed. I feel like he might have a better chance of sleeping through. Or should I stick with the earlier bedtime and see if this will pass? He’s 14 weeks and 2 days so wasn’t sure if it was sleep regression.
Anyone going through something similar would love to know your thoughts.
Thanks

It took around a week for my lo 13 weeks to get used to the new routine. Ours goes down at 8, dream feed between 11/12 then up once between 3-4 and up at 7

Do you find with the dream feed that your LO wakes up enough to drink?

yes but it can vary how much he has. Anywhere between 3-5oz xx

would you say to stick with it then? X

You could try another dream feed at half 2 before he shows signs of waking? I find if my little boy is still half asleep with the bottle then he goes down much much faster.
If he wakes up for a bottle after 3 then I have the same situation where it takes around an hour in total for him to go back down.
Only recently started trying this myself and sometimes it works, sometimes he wakes up before I get the chance to dream feed!
I think everything is up in the air until the regression passes!

thank you for the advice. It’s so hard to predict what will happen! But I agree sometimes you just have to ride the wave until it passes! X

My little boy goes to sleep around 8/9pm then sleeps through till 4/5/6am wakes for a bottle and goes back to sleep until 8/9. He’s only 14 weeks 5 days. I used to do a dream feed at about 12 but he doesn’t seem to want it anymore because he stopped actually drinking any of it. I’d say stick with it. When my LO wakes up at 4/5/6 he’s awake for about an hour or so. Definitely stick with it and see if he gets used to it xx

yes my little boy sleeps til 9am ish too. It’s just so difficult to get him back to sleep after the night feed! But I’m going to persevere with it x

it is with my little boy early in the morning too tbf. Keep persevering it’ll 100% get better!! Xx

My little one was like this when I gave him a dream feed so I decided to not do one and see what would happen. He had his last feed at 7.30 and would wake up around 4.00 for a feed. He stopped the 4.00 himself also at around 4 weeks and will just sleep through now. If weight and everything okay maybe not doing the dream feed could be an option and see what happens

I would just for another week

I don’t dream feed I just put him down at 8 half 8 and went for him to wake for s bottle normally around 11 / 12

Omggggg i could have written this. I did from 11pm and tried to jump to 8pm.
It did not work.
So i did 1045 1030 and so on and so forth til we are now at 9pm.
But tbh he is doing like 9 hours.. if he makes it till 5am from 8pm. was he sleeping 9ish hours from 11pm til 8am before?
If not i think moving the bedtime is whats done it. So instead of getting that sleep in later shes getting it in between 8pm and 11pm.
So may need to move the dream feed up aswell.
I dont dream feed tho i just want her to go from 8pm til 6am.
I feed her every 2 hrs in the day tho so she is unlikely to be hungry at night and offer both breasts twice at night till she looks drunk :D

we didn’t have any problems moving the bedtime as we kept the routine and room exactly the same so I think he just thought it was bedtime!
He slept through on a few occasions but not many and was still having 1 night feed most nights. It was just the evenings that were tough. We just needed a couple of hours to ourselves it was becoming so exhausting! I don’t mind doing a night feed if it means we get a couple of hours in the evening. It’s just tricky to get him back to sleep after the night feed but once he has gone back to sleep he goes til 9am xx

Omg. No way when i moved the bedtime she acted like i moved the planet! Tonights the first night shes actually gone proper sleep at 8. Not sure what came over her.
Ahhhhhh then i think keep doing what ur doing!
Like u managed to get ur evenings back so tick that box. Now we gotta get the bed back but one step at a time!!
What i mean though is the earlier bedtime is maybe whats meaning when he wakes he really wakes cos hes slept longer by that time than he would if he had gone bed at 11pm
Ill try doing the night routine earlier and see if that helps so thanks for that! Xo

yeah that’s why I said I was tempted to move it back later as he has the best quality sleep in the first block but it means having to entertain him all evening!
I’ll stick with what I’m doing for now and see how it goes. It could all go out the window next week for all I know 😂 x

EDIT!!!
I did it today she went down at 845pm. Sweet as you said. Then 430am (its usually 6am) woke up. Hard to settle shes only gone bed now.
So now we in the same boat... 😅
And i quite like my 5am til 6am hour alone before the house wakes up. I think ill keep it as it is. If i can get her back to sleep in her bed quicker then i think it'll be okay x
