Is there a 3-year sleep regression??? 😫

My toddler lately takes FOREVER to fall asleep at nights! More than 45 minutes!! He has stopped taking naps for the past 3 months as any nap duration (even a 20-min one) would be disastrous for his bedtime! So even without a nap it takes him a total of 12-14 hours to calm down and finally be tired enough to fall asleep at nights!!! It is driving me crazyyyy as he ends up sleeping just 10 hours every night which is not enough for him as he gets cranky and clingy all day long!!! Someone please help me! Is it just a sleep regression???

There is definitely something like that, my son doesn’t have trouble at night so much as he just REFUSES all naps now. This just happened this past month for me. I def understand the frustration. hopefully things get better soon! I miss naps 😭

Yes it seems he is overtired indeed. How many hours does you little one need after her nap to fall asleep at nights? Mine needed a good amount of 7-8 hours awake time to be able to sleep at night when he was taking a midday nap 😳

I feel you! My son refused naps since he was 2.5 years old so we always ended up driving around the block so he could sleep a bit in the car on days he seemed exhausted... but that was not sustainable for too long so now he just does not nap at all 🤷🏻‍♀️ I would have hoped that that way he would be exhausted and sleep immediately at nights... but little did I know...! The only good thing with this new sleep schedule is that he sleeps without waking up all night long!

My son usually only sleeps 10 hours. One thing I’ve noticed that does help him sleep a bit longer is making sure he’s eaten before bed. He will have butter on toast, a toasted sandwich - something easy / and he ALWAYS sleeps a little bit longer the next morning.
It never takes him long to fall asleep because I think he’s so exhausted. It’s a hard stage when they drop the nap.

Yes they’re definitely is my three-year-old went through the same thing so we started putting her to bed at 8 pM. Once we cut her naps out and now she sleeps between eight and 8:30 PM to 8 AM. So not sure what time your toddler goes to sleep, but between 8-830p.

what time did you put her to bed before (before she stopped napping)? Our toddler typically goes to sleep around 10 pm and wakes up at 9-9:30 am.

Yes, we have tried that too but then he is undertired and it is still taking him forever to fall asleep 🤦🏻‍♀️

thanks for the tip! 10 hours is marginally okay for our toddler... he usually needs 11 hours to keep him all day long. What time does you little one go to bed and how long is the wake period before sleeping again?

Avatar

He goes to bed between 7:30-8:30 usually, depending on what time he got up that morning. He gets up between 6-7:30am. He needs at least 12-13 hours before he’s ready to go to bed. Some afternoons he’s miserable by 5pm but interestingly I find once he’s had a bath he’s much calmer and less psycho

She used to go to bed around the same about 10-1030. She would nap around 1 PM. But ever since I cut her naps and changed her bedtime to 8-830 she sleeps until about 8a every day sometimes 730a but she falls asleep, so quickly no problem and she sleeps right through. we used to eat dinner around seven or 730 but we moved everything up so now we we eat dinner around 545-6. There’s like a sweet spot between 8-830 before they get their second wind full of energy again. I hope this helps!

Thanks Julie! Yes we might need to change his bedtime as well!

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
