Baby buying appointments

Has anyone done a John Lewis or Mamas & Papas baby buying appointment?
If so, which one did you do? Or where did you go? Was it good and worth it? Did you get any discounts?

I’m 27 weeks and I actually don’t have many things yet! 😅

I’ve just done the John Lewis one and it was really good. We explained what we were after (we mainly looked at prams and car seats) then they go through everything with you and let you demo it as well. If you have a store that you can park in a John Lewis car park you can try the car seat in your car as well.

If you sign up through being a JL member then you get 10% off over £1000 and 15% off over £1500.

We were there for 90 minutes as well!

I would check where the biggest store near you is so you can see more of a range of what’s in there! X

I went to a mama and papas one and highly recommend especially for things like a pram so you can properly test and make sure you can put it up and down with ease etc.

I will be booking a John lewis one too. Both stores offer a discount/reward scheme when you spend so much which is worth baring in mind x

In my last pregnancy we went mamas papas, I think if u do online shopping with them u get some £100 voucher back depending on how much u spend probably 1k. But main things u need to buy first hands r nice mattress, mattress protector, car seats, bottles.

We were gifted ocaroo bundle by our siblings / in laws. Hence we were to spend 1k. It’s still useful for soon to come new member

Mamas and papas are great, I ordered my nursery furniture and my travel system and once they are delivered we will get a voucher too.

I did the John Lewis one, 90 min, as I knew I would be spending more than £1000. I pretty much knew what I wanted so I just went to get the coupon, but actually we spent quite some time on proper car seat installation, adjustments, securing the baby in the seat, so I found that part really helpful.

John Lewis we did for the pram only, was really helpful to see them in person. Make sure you do tons of research first though

We did John Lewis for car seat and pram it was so so helpful. Extra discount too.

We did the mamas and papas 90 minute one inside a next shop and it was great. We got to test prams and car seats and they are very knowledgeable. We got £25 voucher on the day and then when our pram is delivered we’ll get £150 so well worth it!

We did both last pregnancy, can't remember the discounts available but both were really helpful. Ended up buying from a small local business though who were excellent too. (Kiddieland in Liverpool for anyone who happens to be local!)

We did John Lewis, we went into it knowing we wanted an uppababy vista but we actually ended up buying it from natural baby shower along with the car seat in a great bundle and saved about £700 VS John Lewis. They do give you a discount code but it’s only 10% off over £1,000 spend or 15% off over 1.5k spend - it made more financial sense for us to order elsewhere HOWEVER, the appointment was actually really useful and it was nice to pick someone’s brains about baby stuff and getting to try out the prams etc. I would still recommend especially if you are feeling overwhelmed with what to buy!

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
