How to get out of bed after c-section?

Had a c-section on Tuesday, first night at home last night. How the heck do I get out of bed, scar is pulling on one side so bad I’m totally stuck lying down!

Try tying something to the end of the bed frame or if you have a door near your bed to the handle and use that to pull yourself up. You want to use arms over and and if you can’t do that practice rolling on your side then swinging legs over the side of the bed.

Definitely just take it as slow as you can each time. Like above, use the bed frame to aid you (I’m surprised I didn’t break the hospital bed in the first week 😂) and move slowly onto one side moving your legs down towards the floor. Try to get it done in one motion as you’re then only in pain for one rather than two motions 🤣 in all seriousness, take it slow and easy and very soon it will suddenly become so much easier. Congratulations ❤️

girl i would just use my legs until i touched to floor with my feet and then i used my legs to push up

Take it slow. I was in hospital a week which helped as I could put the bed as low as it would go.
Turn onto your side, bring your legs over the edge and use your arms to push yourself to upright.
I slept with 6 pillows for first few weeks, as I just couldn’t lay flat x

I tried my best to use my arm strength, rather than my core. Just trying to roll slowly onto my side so I could get onto my feet. I also used to try and not actually lay fully down so it wasnt as much work to get to standing and have a lot of pillows to prop me upwards if that makes sense. If you have someone who can help you that is always best. It is painful, just try to do whatever works best for you.

Thanks all, managed to get up after a while by rolling and dropping my legs - definitely going to take more pillows to bed tonight so I don’t lie down fully!

I stayed laying on my side with a pillow propped behind my back for 3 weeks and ticked the bedsheets deep so I could use them to help pull me off the bed plus husband helped for the first week and a half when it hurt the most, then after that I felt like I could roll and swing my legs better like people are saying.

I would slightly roll onto my least painful side to get some leverage then would slowly push myself up to a sitting position. Then would ease my legs to the floor 1 at a time. Then would go 1,2,3 to gain the momentum to stand up slowly 😂 xx

I just got up the same way I did whilst heavily pregnant. Roll to my side and push up with my arm.

I didn’t know what to do with my c section getting in and out of bed it was like pure torture I guess what 5% helped me was when laying down in bed put your arms up and use your arms to lift yourself up because rolling onto my side actually made it 100 times longer and painful but maybe that was just me

Avatar

I slept upright propped up with pillows for the first week when I got home. Once I could lay flat I basically went dead weight and got my husband to lift me out so I didn’t use core muscles at all x

Avatar

I slept sat up with loads of pillows for a couple of weeks so then I could just shuffle to the bottom of the bed to get out. Alot of pillows definitely helped me

I slept upright on the couch for about a week and a half it was so painful to lay down. Idk how you did it! When I finally did get in the bed I propped so many pillows on the bed including the couch pillows. I had to use my headboard to pull me up.

I held my belly and slept on sofa

I bought one of these after my first section and will be using again in a few weeks time! It was brilliant especially when I needed the toilet or something in the middle of the night and I didn’t want to wake my partner, it forces you to be slow, I used to put myself up to sitting and then slide my legs off the bed and gently stand up, push with your arms or if you can put a dining chair or something by the edge of your bed for a week or so that works well xx

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Rolling milestone at 5 months - What’s typical ?

Good morning ladies,

My daughter will be 5 months old tomorrow, but there’s still no sign of her rolling. She does tummy time and loves lying on her mat, playing with hanging toys above her and to the sides, but she only lifts her legs and doesn’t seem interested in rolling or moving sideways yet.

Anyone else the same or have your babies already learnt how to roll yet ?

Thank you
