Hello, do any mamas have any advice or insights? My baby boy is 3 months and is starting to get a flatter head on one side due to his preference sleeping to his left. Whenever possible, we try to move him to the other side and have been doing as much tummy time as possible daily, as well as wearing him in the carrier as much as possible too. Will his head even out / round out or is this permanent? I’ve heard mixed this and I’m a bit worried about it. Thanks!

Have you heard of the perfect noggin? I got this for my son as he had a preference to sleeping on his left and had flattening. It’s made a massive difference. X

It’ll even out on its own when baby starts sitting up, crawling etc. please don’t add any cushions or pillows as it’s unsafe.

It’ll get better. Maybe mention to your gp as they can refer them to physio to check for any neck tightness and give you exercises if necessary x

It sounds like you’re doing everything right🤍 I would just bring it up at his next dr apt

I’d recommend an osteopath to help relieve the tension. Babies have a preference because they have what we would class as a ‘crook neck’. It can be uncomfy for them.
My little girl had a preference, we did one appt with the osteopath and she suddenly started sleeping both sides, and her tolerance of tummy time improved as her neck wasn’t hurting!

Check if they have torticollis, my son had this and ended up with a flat head on one side. We did osteo, physio and had perfect noggin. Earlier you sort the better

I’d 100% agree with an osteopath! My little girl had the same, always sleeping with her head to the same side. 2 visits to the osteopath and it made such a difference, flat head resolved straight away and she had much more neck movement! ☺️
