My son knows all his shapes

My son knows all his shapes and can point them out when prompted, too, but we will not say the names of each shape. He doesn't say a lot, actually. He babbles all the time, but he doesn't say words. I'm getting a little concerned.

How old is he?

he is almost 17 months

Him understand language is a good sign. He may just not be a talker yet. Idk when it's considered behind for talking but if your unsure you can have Early Intervention (sometimes called something else in other states) evaluate for free. And if they determine he is behind they offer free services to help. It's all through your state/insurance. We use EI for feeding but the evaluation was anything everything. It was interesting to see and get validation that everything was or wasn't where it needed to be. I feel like doctors are more wait and see and as an early educator I disagree with that. I think it never hurts to get help at any point. Let me know if you need help finding what I'm talking about for your state.

I wouldn't worry at 17 months too much. Does he say any words? At this age 4-6 words is normal. My son is 17 months as well. He doesn't know all his shapes. He only knows circle. He has about 8 words

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰
