I’m at my wits end with my little girls sleep at the moment, 14 months at the end of this month. Majority of nights she’s a dream sleeps 8-8. But recently there has been some awful nights, she’ll wake up in the middle of the night (some nights been 1am, others 4am) crying her eyes out, has some bottle and will go back to sleep on us (over our shoulder) no problem, we wait 10 sometimes 15/20 mins after she’s fallen asleep and then go to put her back in her cot and the minute her head touches the pillow her eyes ping open and she screams!!!
I then leave the room and give her a minute and she just screams and screams. We go back up, give more cuddle, she’s back to sleep in 2 mins and then same again screams when I put her down. This continues for 3hrs or so! Last night I gave up and bought her into our bed (we only ever bought her into our bed when she was 3-4 months old when my partner had gone to work at 6:30-7am and she woke for a cuddle)
I don’t really know what to do, the sleep deprivation is getting to me and my partner.
I don’t know if she’s maybe becoming scared of the dark? If that can be a thing so young?
Any advice welcome, from one tired mum😴😭

Best advice is try getting her to fall asleep on her own. I had this exact problem and then I stopped cuddling her to sleep, I’d wait until she was really drowsy and then I’d put her in the cot and put white noise on. Worked a treat. If you’re their comfort at sleep time every wake, they will NEED you. It’s not a bad thing, these nights dot. Last forever, I just held my first born when needed to sleep. But I’ve now got 3. So it isn’t an option, I stay until she’s asleep, but if she wakes she will put her dummy back in and that’s her x

This sounds a bit like separation anxiety, it’s a phase that does pass. My daughter had this pretty badly when I first returned to work at the start of January but she’s back to sleeping through now without me doing anything. For us spending more time with her when I am home and in the evenings after work before bed really helped. I still cuddle/breastfeed her to sleep. I hope it passes for you soon! X

Just following as I could have written this today! He slept amazingly for months and the past 4-5 nights it’s been exactly like you described. He’s also been having less dinner and milk before bed so we’re trying to make sure he’s full. We were leaving the curtains open because they block the radiator (there are blinds) but we decided tonight to close them and see if that helps since it’s been getting light earlier. Decided not to pull him into bed no matter what even though it’s the easiest thing in the short term, probably didn’t help that we did it the first few times!
