My LB is 16 weeks and currently EBF. His latch on my right has always been awful and now I’ve got a pretty large crack on my right nipple. He was in the NICU when he was born so to begin with I was pumping until he could feed direct from me. Because of the pain I experience when feeding him on my right side now and it constantly bleeding, I am contemplating going back to pumping and feeding him my milk via a bottle. My question is, how do you know how many oz to feed per bottle? My boy currently nurses 6 times in a 24 hour period. Roughly every 2.5-3 hours in the day and once in the night x

Noooo stick at it but Buy some silver nipple cups!!! Bloody awesome 🤩 will clear any issues up really quickly!!

I just pump but have an under supply, I was told by the lactation team that the most breast fed babies drink is 900ml so most they should have is 900 divided by feeds in a day. In America they also do weighed feeds for breast fed babies so they weigh them before and after a feed so they know how much they have drunk (not sure if this is accurate to do or how it's done). Currently my LB has 6oz of expressed milk in his bottles during the day and is satisfied but before bed and in the night he has up to 9oz of formula as we used to use my expressed milk over night but he would vary how much he ate so often I felt disheartened when had to use milk for milk baths etc when it takes so long for me to get the milk and would rather he drink it

I pumped breast milk almost exclusively for 3 months and have just started cutting down over the last few weeks. I just offered my baby milk when I knew he was hungry and let him have however much he wanted 🤷🏻♀️ if I ran out of milk, I topped him up with a slight amount of formula but often didn’t need to. I don’t have an oversupply though and only just produce enough

Have you had a look at taking baby to a cranial osteopath? It might help with releasing tension in his body that might be stopping him latching on that side.
I exclusively pumped for my little girl for 3 months. I would pump after I had fed with a bottle so pumped what she had drunk. Over time you will work out what your baby needs. I think I was on 5 or 6oz at feed at 3months.

I exclusively pumped with both of mine after feeding issues, my first, for 18 months, my second is currently 7 months. Based off my babies, I'd suggest 4oz just as you start then increase if you feel he needs it.

we actually have an appointment with a cranial osteopath tomorrow as his head doesn’t turn left very easily so I will also mention this to them thank you! X
