If she can roll on her own, then she's good to lay on her belly. If you place her on her belly, then it's best to watch her while she sleeps. If you need rest too, best to keep her on her back when you lay her down.

Avatar

If its supervised its fine to let her sleep like that. If you go to sleep yourself, put her on her back

Avatar

she wiggled out of her boppi and scooted closer to my leg lol i wish i could’ve caught it on video and she held her own bottle for the first time today is that normal at 2 months?

Avatar

I exclusively am breastfeeding so I'm not 100% but that's awesome momma! If she wiggled her way like that, she is good to sleep like that while you watch her 🥰

Avatar

She’s fine if she’s supervised, but lay her on her back if you’re putting her down (if she rolls to her tummy on her own she’ll be fine).

Also LOL the blowout stains are real

When she starts to roll over

I’ve washed this onsie a few times and it just won’t come out 😂

You should always keep her on her back. That is the best position for a two month old baby. Just make sure she is on her back. At this time she cannot roll or anything, but it is best that the baby is on their back. They are breathing the best. Healthy babies should be placed on their backs to sleep. In 2005, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Task Force on Infant Sleep Position and SIDS (hereafter, the AAP Task Force) issued revised recommendations for reducing the risk of SIDS.

Avatar

For safety, all infants should sleep on their backs for the first year of life, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
Trusted Source
and the Department of Health and Human Services recommend. They give the same guidance for babies born preterm.

Avatar

Unless she can roll tummy sleeping isn’t really safe. Once she can confidently roll both ways it’s fine to let her move onto her stomach herself, just always put her down on her back to start with.

Avatar

For sure sleeping on the back is safest especially when tiny 😊 But when it's supervised it is absolutely fine for bub to sleep on their belly for a little bit. Even better if they're sleeping on you. Triple points if skin to skin! X

Avatar

while this is true advice, if baby can roll on to their belly on their own, it is okay for them to sleep like that. Baby should always be placed on their back, but again, if they roll on their own, it is okay for them to sleep like that after they have rolled themselves.

Avatar

only while supervised especially that young. I just wouldn’t recommend it for children that young but as I said previously, if the mom is right by the baby, that is fine and it is ultimately the mom’s choice so I am not trying to argue. I am just stating facts.

Avatar

I just wouldn’t recommend a infant sleeping on their stomach for long hours but it isn’t my child so she can do what she wants but it is better for the baby to be on the back at two months when the baby is about six months and rolling very well that is different

Avatar

that’s ok, when you have your child you can do what you want and how you see fit.

You will see that when your child is *confidently* rolling (as I said) it is absolutely safe for them to sleep on their stomachs. Unless you want to be up all night watching them and rolling them back over 🫠

Avatar

100% but baby doesn't need to be able to roll back for it to be considered safe. If baby can roll on to her tummy, she can sleep that way. 2 months is rare but it can happen. That's where this momma here has to make the best choice for her and her daughter ☺️

Avatar

@Georgia it’s not what you said, you have just edited your response to say that now 😂 (after I responded back to you).

I’m unsure why you’re responding to me personally anyway? I’ve said it’s not safe unless the baby is confidently rolling, which at 2 months is unlikely - I didn’t feel it necessary to say this, as the mum must know her baby is not rolling confidently).

With all due respect you haven’t had your baby yet.

Avatar

exactly she can do what is best for her child I am just stating facts and if the baby cannot roll back, this is an unsafe position without being monitored. Again, Morgan this is not at a debate. It is facts.. I am sure this mom will make the right decisions for her child.

Avatar

who is arguing? We are saying the same point?
I’m just unsure why you’re responding to me as I advised the same thing 😂

Except, you said they needed to sleep on their backs for the first year of life. All I can say is good luck with this 😅

Avatar

OK carry on and watch your mouth when it comes to my unborn child my child will be born and delivered in June and Keep your negativity where you are because I am divinely protected i am blessed beyond measures.

Avatar

Mine was a tummy sleeper since birth but I had sleepless nights where I was watching her - bought the owlet , used a camera and she was in the bassinet next to me

She had good neck control and could turn it too

7 months and she’s still a belly sleeper although she now is starting to sleep on her side too

Yes it’s frowned upon to let baby sleep on belly but that’s just what works for other babies 🤷🏽‍♀️

To each their own but like I said I watched my baby like a hawk

Avatar

My little girl has slept on her side since 10 weeks old, this is due to secretions & apneas though she is a complex baby, tubie fed with a few difficulties but I always made sure my eldest was on her back. Same as co sleeping I always swore I wouldn’t do it, didn’t with my eldest but baby is different. She stops breathing & chokes in her sleep so each child is different :)

Avatar

great I’m pleased for you!

Avatar

Both my kid sleep on there fronts now there 9 and 5 they used to sleep on there back as the only way they would settle was if they were swaddled both I know when my had trpletd 5 weeks premature the put prem babies of there tummy’s

Avatar

My son co slept for a major part of the beginning of his life, i was so worried that i would have to feel him breathing. And when i woke up to find hin rolled over in the next to me crib it freaked me out because of some comments similar in this post . As sad as it is SIDS is inevitable. And the advice i got was if baby can lift their head, they will be able to breath fine if they have rolled ( barring no teddys/ blankets are covering their face) I recommend getting a snuze alarm. Really put my mind at ease during the first few months

Avatar

Me about to join the discussion but..I know when run too😂😂 yall get crazy sometimes

Avatar

The most safest is when they can hold their head up and turn their head unless you’re supervising them (:

Avatar

2 of mine did but they had breathing issues. The recommendation is on their back to prevent SIDS for sure so be careful because they move so quickly.

Avatar

A lot of these comments are crazy like any of you never heard of safe sleep a baby should be placed on there backs if they roll over to there side it’s okay bc they did it there self I would just be careful you don’t want anything bad to happen bc things do happen I hear it all the time

Avatar

I’m not gonna comment on the sleep but the onesie lol, get some cloth diaper covers and put that over the disposable and you won’t get anymore blowouts. Soak that onesie in Oxiclean- detergent itself isn’t going to remove stains it just cleans 🙃

AITA

In the uk there is an outbreak of meningitis, in a specific area mainly. My BD has family from that area and decided to go and meet up with them, I said if he does then he cannot have contact with the kids for 7-10 days after incase he picks anything up. Am I being over dramatic? I reallyyy don’t want my young kids getting anything serious

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

This might rattle some people

Ok, this might get a bit long, and a bit bumpy, so get comfy and buckle up.

So about a week or 2 ago, there was a post on here regarding sleepovers. Not letting their child go to them as you can't trust who'll be at the house etc.

Now, given recent incidents in nurseries and schools, plus my own experience back in the 90s, I am more concerned about sending my child to nursery and later school than I am to a friend's house for a sleep over.

The other day a man was jailed for abusing children at the nursery he worked at. A woman has been arrested for sleeping with an underage boy and then getting pregnant by a different underage boy while on bail for the first offence.

Young girls and boys get sexually harassed and bullied when at school, not all of them. But more than you think. And not just by other kids, but by adults who we as parents are trusting to look after our kids.

A sleepover, is a more controlled environment, with only a handful of people coming into contact with your child. A school, a club etc there can be 100s of people coming into contact with your child.

I was targeted at 7 years old by the owner of a prominent private school. Thankfully, I wasn't SA'd. In year 5 of primary school, I started to develop early, I was harassed by the boys and teachers made remarks about how my uniform didn't fit right, always "adjusting it" around my chest and legs.

Years 7-9 of secondary school were hell. But it was all under the guise of "we're just messing around". A teacher twanging my exposed bra strap (none uniform day) is not "messing around".

Boys pinning me down trying to rip open my shirt to see my breasts.

I fear for my daughter. I hope she takes after my father's family, flat chested.

We need to educate all our children, what is acceptable behaviour. And to come to us, as their parents should ANYTHING happen.

At this point I’m not enjoying motherhood

My 22 month old is horrendous at the moment🫣 biting, hitting, pushing, pulling and shoving not only adults but children he also wants what other children have and will just snatch it away from them.

We repeat ‘nice hands’ ‘be gentle’ ‘let’s share’ etc

But how do I make him understand what he’s doing isn’t very nice? At the end of the day I feel like I’ve just been saying his name all day and nothing else.

What can I do?

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.
