do i need to see a doctor?

okay so i’m 26 weeks and i haven’t seen a obgyn in over a month because i moved from staten island ny to buffalo and i lost all access to my doctors because its obviously to far away and my insurance isn’t accepted here unfortunately so it’s taking a while to figure stuff out and i can’t afford those medical bills so what if i can’t get a doctor to see me by june when i’m due would that be bad? should i go to labor and delivery and asked to be checked at some point? like i’m genuinely confused on what to do

I lost my job & insurance…haven’t been to the doctor in a month also. I went to the e.r last night & told them I slipped in the shower. Was able to get a full checkup and ultrasound.

oh wow thank god your ok so i have to have a reason i can’t just explain i haven’t seen a doctor and i wanna make sure all is ok?

See if you qualify for Medicaid most doctors take it but you should be fine if the last time you went and baby was fine …I know women who never went to the doctor their whole pregnancy..if you feel baby you should be ok

I would search your area for free prenatal support services. A lot of areas have them, and they should be able to help you navigate insurance and getting care.

the problem is not getting insurance that’s not the problem is that because I moved from the city to the state I have to close down my public assistance case and then re-open a new one up here and that takes a while they don’t give you insurance right away. I have to wait till next month to apply up here because I’m still doing stuff for my current public assistance case so I don’t know how long it’s gonna be.

in that case I would still see if you have those services and explain your situation. They may know of ways to help the process go faster or to get a free appointment in before the insurance will allow you to switch.
My best friend is an SW for an agency like this in another state, and they help people with situations like that a lot. Being between insurance due to red tape shouldn't stop you from making sure you and your baby are healthy.

thank you so much that was helpful

I moved across the country and felt the same way you did. All the places with OBGYNs told me that I was too far along (at 19 weeks) to be seen. I saw an OBGYN where I was living. I am now at a clinic and see a Midwife, but not sure if I’ll see a doctor at all until birth, so I have unanswered questions. I’m learning to trust this process of being pregnant by asking for all questions to friends, blog sites, and Facebook groups.
I was in the same situation as you though.

this happened to me too! What on earth!! I was 17 weeks at the time and it took forever to find an obgyn that would take me. I was so mad and I still don’t understand.

Has anyone else had issues with their friends that aren't pregnant or have kids?

I have a friend at work and we've become really close over the years. But ever since I become pregnant she just doesn't understand anything I'm going through which is fine except for the fact that the past few days I have been exhausted physically and socially. We have been helping another friend out for about a month now and we've had to keep him entertained as he's going through a rough time right now and it's drained me socially . my friend at work is frustrated because I'm not talking a lot and I'm exhausted and she doesn't understand why and I'm just curious if anybody else has had issues with friends that are not going to the same thing or have gone through the same thing as you connecting with you because she's literally mad at me. She stopped talking to me at work today and I just don't understand what to do.

STD rates and body count

Saw an interesting video and I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this topic!

So std rates are at an all time high as we all know. Do you think the mindset that body count doesn’t matter has contributed to the significant increase of STDs and HIV?

Secondly if someone says that body count doesn’t matter do you believe they are less likely to practice safe sex compared to people who believe in more traditional values?

I can’t put all the combinations in the poll so feel free to comment just yes/no answers

(If you’re going to reply please keep your responses respectful and polite.)
