I know it's might be silly but my little girl is 1 month old and she is just so content, like sleeps so much throughout the day, on the evening she has like a 5-6 hour stretch when she is just passed out, and during the day I can easily leave her in her moses basket for like half an hour and she is just looks around with no sound
Is that normal? I thought newborns have no sense of self and can't sooth themselves.

Yes they can soothe themselves
And they need that much sleep as it helps with their growth. Let her sleep cos she will get to that stage of sleep regression lol

Small one's dad once had to explain it to a half sibling of my step son. During sleep we process all we've learned and experienced during the day. The younger a baby is, the more of that is completely new, the more sleep needed to process it. They then likened it to being at school 24 hours a day.

My baby was exactly the same as a newborn. To be honest, he never really changed. He’s still a very calm toddler in comparison to others. Obviously we do have crying moments but never really had a full blown tantrum.
To the age of one, he barely cried.e & my family knew If he was crying then it was for a genuine reason x

Mine wasn't too much of a sleeper (had a few long tired days of course, like anyone), but generally a very content bean. Not all newborns are incredibly fussy all the time. She also learned to self-soothe very early. At a few weeks old, I would hear her cooing in the bassinet and she would just settle herself back to sleep again. She sleeps through the night and has since about 10 weeks, save a few occasions.
