Every night when I put my 4.5 month old in her next to me cot, she throws her arms and legs around until I eventually pick her up. We end up bedsharing most of the time as she immediately settles when she’s next to me. She does this even when I’ve got half my body hanging into the cot next to her, and whatever state I put her down in (ie having been asleep for half an hour or 5 minutes, just after a feed, etc). I’ve tried leaving her to it a few times in case she’s just playing or a very active sleeper, but that eventually results in tears, which I can’t bear. I don’t mind bedsharing but I’m clueless as to why the thrashing? I’m talking like picking her legs up and throwing them back down again repeatedly. She’s been doing this for at least a month! Is it that her cot is too small?!

I’d let he thrash away as that’s what I thought it might be, if it weren’t for the fact she tends to start crying after a while :( I’ll see if she does it tonight and wait until there are actual cries before I dive in to pick her up!
