Bottle fed (formula) 5 month old not finishing bottles

Hey,

Has anyone that bottle feeds their baby noticed a drop in feeding around 5 months.. my guy will be 5 months tomorrow and for the last week or so he’s not been finishing bottles (usually about 200ml every 3 hours) sometimes leaving half or more than half of the bottle. I’m trying to go with the flow and think if he he’s hungry he’ll eat but it’s hard not to stress he’s not getting enough calories.

Wondering if anyone else has noticed anything similar and it may just be developmental.

Oh my little one it’s been like that for almost 2 months! He drinks between 550-750ml a day if I’m lucky and most at night time! Its a victory if he drink a full bottle of 120. It’s been stressful but doctor is not worried at all! Right now decided to go with the flow.. been trying to give just every 4h to see if he drinks more consistently! Hopefully will pass soon for both of us!

I noticed our guy ate less when he was going through some rough teething days! If it continues longer than a week or so maybe ask your doctor to be safe :)

Yes! It can be a teething thing. Sometimes it works if you go into a dark room right before nap time when they’re getting sleepy to feed them the rest of the bottle. For us, we’ve experienced this with our 5 month old on and off since he was 3 months.

Thanks for your replies! I’m trying to go with the flow (and going to try harder haha).

I was thinking it could be teething so we’ll see if any little teeth sprout up soon! And I’ll definitely call our doctor if it gets drastically worse or his wet diapers and stuff change at all.

Thanks for the reassurance, it’s hard to not feel like you have no idea what you’re doing sometimes 😅

Oh trust me girl I definitely don’t know what I’m doing 😂 just going with the flow too haha!
Our guy started teething around 3 months and he is almost 6 months and still no sign of teeth 🙃

My little guy was doing that around 4 months for 2-3 weeks, he would get so distracted during his feed and only drink 1/2 or 2/3 of his bottle and ended up waking every 2.5-3.5hrs or so during the night. So I ended up waiting longer to around 3.5-4hrs between each feed.

Also he became picky with the bottle brand (nipple) and the milk temperature, so had to warm it back up and we would use that time to burp him. He was also picky with his bottle/nipple brand. Good idea to go to quieter/darker room as well. At one point I had to also rock/bounce him while singing ABC to him to get him to look at me instead of trying to tilt head in directions that are hard to keep the bottle in his mouth.

It was a phase and it went away eventually and now he’s 5 months old and back to feeding around every 3.5 hrs during and the daytime and sleeps through the night (9.5-10.5hrs straight). We had to slowly cut back on his nighttime feed amount to get him to this stage.

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

I feel like just a milk cow

Hi I have a 16 day old via c section, I'm a FTM never having been around babies before as I am the youngest of my household and from a small family. My husband is fantastic with our little one. But ever since I've had the baby I just feel like the only thing I'm good for is producing milk. I feel disconnected from my husband like the only reason he's around is because am producing milk. We were having some issues before the baby and we're struggling it took a while to feel like he was onboard even though he said he was from the moment we found out. I dunno if I'm feeling like a spear part because I'm lacking confidence with baby or because I feel like he wouldn't mind being a single dad. Is this postpartum hormones or something else?

How long did it take for your child’s circumcision to heal and you could give him a bath?

I’ve just been wiping him down with a fiber wash cloth but I just wanted to know from others experience on how long it took

Guilt

Does anyone else feel guilty for every little thing they do? I feel like I need to be entertaining my little one at all times. If I have to put her in the activity center to finish a task, instant guilt. In the car for too long, instant guilt. Replying to work emails instead of interacting with her, instant guilt. I know independent play is good for her but my brain thinks otherwise. Please tell me it gets better, I’d love to shower for more than 10 minutes without it feeling like the world is going to collapse.
