I am planning on breastfeeding after I deliver. I am a high school treacher and i will only be able to pump once everyday around 12:30. So i will pump before work at 6:50AM. Then I will pump at 12:30PM. And then again at 4:15PM.
Will this be enough? and does it sound doable?

It's doable but might be painful for you, depending on how much milk you produce and how often. Pumping 3 times in about a 10 hour span can also lower your milk production. I'd check with your school's HR to see what accommodations can be made for you to pump an extra time or 2 throughout the day. If not, the. Make sure you stay hydrated so you can pump a lot the times you have set apart. Definitely get the baby on your nipple as soon as possible once you're back home to stimulate the production.

You can also do mini sessions between classes. There's 10 min between classes (at most schools) and you can hit the teacher bathrooms (if your school has them, mine had one in every hall at the far end) an extra time or two.
But also, high schoolers are pretty understanding so if you need to excuse yourself during class, I'm sure there'd be no problem. Give em a work packet or turn on an Olaf presents movie. Lol kids love that shit.

The 12:30 and 4:15 timing seems ok but the 6:50-12:30 timeframe seems too long (will likely cause a dip in your supply). I usually recommend women to not go more than 4 hours without removing milk. So maybe feed baby at 6 something or pump if baby isn’t up and then request a 10-15 minute break for pumping at work around 10am if you get the 10am “approved” which honestly they *should* accommodate you legally. You could maybe pump around 1pm again and then your 4:15. Definitely try to get another session in or move your times around for the 6:50 and 12:30 sessions bc 5.5 hours is just too long. You will likely start leaking too at that point and feel way engorged.

My school has been super not understanding. They are threatening to fire me if i take anything more than 30 days for maternity leave since i am a month and a half short for FMLA. HR and my principle have both told me “they don’t understand why i would need more time” and to be happy my job “is allowing me to take thirty days unpaid.” so bringing this up makes me want to die lol. My in between time for classes is only 4 minutes 🤩
Should i just give up on my breastfeeding dreams??

Maybe you can used a pump like the Willow or elvie? I’m not familiar with these so I don’t know if it makes alot of noise but definitely between classes where you don’t have to waste time setting up a pump.

Research the PUMP Act and arm yourself with facts. Unless your job is an exception (which I don't think it would be), your job legally has to accommodate your time for pumping.

Totally illegal for them to not allow you pumping time. If you don't pump every 2-3 hours in the beginning it can cause low milk supply. You should be pumping as often as they feed. That being said some breastmilk is more beneficial than no breastmilk so I wouldn't give up completely just combi feed if you have to. Wearable pumps are also an option but I don't recommend Elvie, I have them and they aren't as effective as getting milk as others and ineffective pumping also lowers supply.

I can't believe they told you that girl im so sorry!!! What if you just pumped during class 😂 maybe where a cover but fuck it right?!?

Yea super illegal how they’re pressuring you and threatening you. Even then telling you they don’t understand why you need more time it illegal….arm yourself with your maternal state laws and federal- also look into a labor Atty and consult with them before your next meeting with the principal
