My little one is going to be 7 months on the 19th of April and she isn’t yet sitting. She crawls around the place like no tomorrow chasing after her brother and is rather speedy when she sees something she wants. We’ve started first tastes but she doesn’t sit in her high chair so I’m reluctant to do any more weaning until she is sitting unaided. Should I be worried do we think? My little boy was sitting up by 4 months old!

If she is slouchy in the high chair maybe try one that's more supportive/add some sort of support.
I'd just keep popping her in the high chair. When I first sat my boy in a high chair he was wobbling about a lot but it's amazing how quickly he learned to sit up. He is no where near sitting independently on the floor, my girl didn't do that till 8 months so it's not concerning.
I got a baby bjorn high chair off market place and it's super supportive! It's also really compact and easy to clean. 💯 The best baby thing I've bought and I'm on my 2nd. Wish I'd bought one for my first.
No harm in raising with HV but I'm sure she will be there in the next few weeks, sounds like she is super strong if she is crawling already!! Xx

Thank you I’ve got the ikea high chair as it was just easiest for my first but perhaps you are right something more supportive. I do a lot of propping her up on the floor for her to learn she just flops and wants to be crawling about.
I love this forum for really talk so figured I’d make a post on here before I contacted a HV. Tbh they are useless in my neck of the woods so I have little faith that I’d get anything useful from them.

My first born (now 2) couldn’t sit up until 8.5 months, we were told to pop pillows behind her in the high chair, as she had great neck control etc x

I've got the ikea high chair too. You can get an inflatable insert with a washable cover that supports baby. I find it really good. Mine can sit in it with that but can't sit unaided on the floor yet

I have the ikea one for my first too. Its a great high chair! The inflatable cushion thing might help. I actually had my first in the mamas and papas bumbo seat thing in the early days of weaning (although I don't think they are recommended anymore). She was also pretty floppy, she was a few weeks early and took a little time to catch up.
Sorry to hear you HV isn't great, I feel similar about my GP surgery tbh! My boy has eczema and the amount of conflicting advice I've been given is a joke! Agree you can somtimes get the best advice from other mums.
Best of luck with everything going forward :)
